Senator John McCain was recently interviewed on Wolf Blitzer's "Situation Room" and when he was asked his opinion on the war front, McCain stated the US is "beginning to succeed in Iraq".
Last week, when Wolf Blitzer challenged the Arizona Senator on CNN, he got an earful from the man once dubbed a maverick:
"That's where you ought to catch up on things, Wolf. General Petraeus goes out there almost every day in an unarmed Humvee. I think you oughta catch up. You are giving the old line of three months ago. I understand it. We certainly don't get it through the filter of some of the media. But I know for a fact that much of the success we're experiencing, including the ability of Americans in many parts. Not all, we have a long, long way to go. We've only got two of the five brigades here to go into some neighborhoods in Baghdad in a secure fashion," said John McCain.
CNN reporter Michael Ware responded from a remote live-feed, saying: “I don't know what part of Neverland Senator McCain is talking about when he says we can go strolling in Baghdad.”
During a live press conference in Bagdad, Senators McCain and Graham were allegedly heckled by the still incredulous Ware.
In a Drudge report posting, Matt Drudge claims that an official at the press conference called Ware’s conduct “outrageous,” and said, “here you have two United States Senators in Bagdad giving first-hand reports while Ware is laughing and mocking their comments. I’ve never witnessed such disrespect. This guy is an activist not a reporter.”
Senators McCain and Graham flew into Iraq and drove into Bagdad, making stops at an open market and a joint Iraq/American military security outpost before appearing at the press conference.
Michael Ware has expressed his views on the war last year in an interview with HBO Real Time's pundit Bill Maher, saying, “I've been given a front-row ticket to watch this slow-motion train wreck."

Ware's network cow tow's to Saddam and his henchmen for a decade and look how they treat him! If you make an agreement to gag stories, and give up journalistic integrity for the sake of access, then why won't they let Ware travel freely? It's a reasonable request! They paid their dues!
Talk about ungrateful totalitarians! It's outrageous! The nerve of them, letting a general travel freely while the bitches from CNN are cowed.
On a positive note, I feel the same way about CNN. wouldn't let them travel either! As for McCain, we wish him well, in any party but the Republican party!
I was at the press conference today in the Green Zone. It is a lie that Ware heckled Senator McCain or Graham. Every one in the room laughed when the US senators told the media how they paid 5 dollars for 5 persian carpets. They even went so far as to claim the Iraqi vendors were happy to be cheated by the Senators who underpaid for their carpets. The Drudge Report is a joke if you believe this propaganda by the GOP, US Millitary, or a jealous journalist to be an exclusive. McCain took Wares challenge of walking in Baghdad and it took over 50 Black Water personnel, US Air Support, hundreds of Iraqi soldiers for McCain to feed his ego by accepting the challenge from Ware.
McCain is just another politician going for a photo op - like Bush finally did at Walter Reed. Put them in the middle of the so-called war and see what they come out with then - more realistic views, don't you think???? How can anyone actually believe we are making 'progress' over there. A good share of the people want the U.S. out of their country - what is left of it anyway. Wonder how much Bush pays for his blinders or are they a natural growth on his head now????
So Sad this POW needs to buy a vowel. If it is so great let him move his family there...chuckle chuckle
I wouldn't have minded seeing McCain blown up by the Iraqi resistance. Apparently, McCain has now lost it completely, kissing ass at Liberty U. and both 'no specific drip' Robertson and Falwell, our American Taliban, just eat it up.
McCain has changed over to the Dark Side, he's a has-been and certainly no presidential material (like Bush). Neither one can think for himself.
McCain is clearly expendable -- let him walk outside the Green Zone one more time ...
35 years ago, we took care of the idiots who claimed we were winning in 'Nam.
Why doesn't anyone frag this SOB, who must know he's lying to us?
There are no words to describe the disgust I feel about the complete and total corruption of U.S. government at all levels, the lies, the war-mongering and the war-crimes committed by the Bush Regime and the Republican Party upon the people of Iraq and upon their own U.S. citizens. This is what happens when you vote in ignorant 'businessmen' who are more concerned with lining their own pockets and taking care of their own interests first, instead of serving the people. For years now, Michael Ware has reported and seen on a daily basis the terrible atrocities committed in Iraq from sectarian violence. Because of this, I believe he has a right to call out McCain, whos visit to Baghdad, by the way, was only a lame attempt at damage control for his half-baked comments about the so-called 'progress' being made. And for White House spokeperson Dana Perino to state that the U.S. is in Iraq at the 'invitation' of the Iraqi people and the United Nations - all I can say is did the Iraqi 'people' invite the U.S. into their country in 2003?? As much as I can remember, the U.N. never legitimized the invasion. Just more lies and spin...
Sentor McCain's statement that General Petraeus goes out on the streets of Baghdad every day in an unarmed humvee, is so ridiculous and preposterous that it is clear he should shut his campaign down and return to being just be one of hundred talking do nothing heads in the senate. If General Petraeus does that it would be beyond being irresponsible. Senator McCain is clearly in denial and his unequivocal support for Bush's war has caused him to ignore reality and engage in wishful thinking. His statements has not convinced anyone that the war and life in Iraq is improving, but rather will quarantee that he will never be elected president. More people was killed in Iraq this month than last and this occured inspite of the surge and intentional reduce attacks by the insurgents. Oil production is down, water and electricity is unavailable most of the time and people are fearful to shop at markets and to be on the streets. Senator McCain is not a straight talker he is a double talker and an old double talker at that. His age alone should have told him he would not be suitable to be president. His time has past. Unfortunately, the republicans have a problem: Guiliani and his wife were married six times beween them and have the audacity to state they believe in the institution of marriage. So much for family values. Romney a member of the moron religion whose basic philosophy is that Blacks are third class human beings as well believing in other unamerican concepts.

I note that Drudge, who wan't there, did not credit sources.
Not sure what Chuck D. is trying to say, but while we were typing away, 4 more troops were slaughtered in Iraq by roadside bombs..........yah, it's real safe!!! Was McCain traveling the same roads??? As a former POW I can't imagine him taking the stance that he has. He and Mr. Bush will be crowding each other out at the bottom of the popularity polls!!!!
Kudos to Michael Ware for his slapdown of the lock-jawed, double-talking, empty suit from Arizona. I heard a clip of it on Drudge's radio show. It was beautiful. Ware's the best thing to happen to reportage in Iraq. He's one of the few reporters who's got the guts to put his butt on the line everyday and to tell the public what's really going on there. If McCain were a real patriot he would have opposed the Iraq invasion to start with and now he would be concentrating on influencing the president and congress on finding a solution to our involvement in Iraq such as implementing the Hamilton Report - not to mention stopping Bush and the neocons from widening the war and attacking Iran. Instead he remains a mouthpiece for the neocons and wastes the public's money on a self serving publicity stunt. If he wants to promulgate pollyanna pro-war propaganda he should go on Fox Noise - they'd be happy to accommodate him. At one time I had some regard for the man but no longer. Now he's just a disgrace.
McCain = owned!
Amusing lot these Americans. They keep complaining about the laughably obvious lies of the US DemocanRepublicrat Regime, and keep voting for it.
Will not even thinking children in the future laugh at the Americans?

Bravo to Michael Ware for 'calling out' Senator McCain and others! Journalists who know the terrain day-in and day-out in the hell-hole that is Iraq have a duty and responsibility to confront politicians, no matter how high up the chain, with the truth they report. Maybe it's about time other journalists began showing the moral courage and outrage Michael Ware has consistently shown in his A-1 reporting on the ground to give the lie to those trying to spin the policy into a success. When I read: 127 killed on Wednesday, 78 killed on Thursday, 198 killed on Friday, 63 killed on Saturday, etc.(to use arbitrary figures): I know for myself that the policy is not working, certainly not for Iraqis. Sure: lock a city or neighborhood down and the 'level of violence' will necessarily go down. But, as the above figures give eloquent testimony tell us, the violence is increasing not at all decreasing. I say it again: if Michael Ware scoffed at the US senators, they have their own ignorance to blame.

John McCain ought to be ashamed of himself. Here's a guy who was tortured as a POW in Vietnam, and today he's nothing but an apologist for everything Bush--the arch war criminal--does.
We need more--a lot more--reporters like Michael Ware.

McCain thinks we are winning in Iraq???? What rock has he climbed out from under when there are more casualties than ever, etc. He is speaking like a Republican - Bush's right hand man. And as far as the reporter speaking about Iraq - are they afraid of hearing the truth?????? The country is being torn to shreds, U.S. troops are being killled and thousands permanently injured and for what??? This is a civil war, folks, and not about Iraq vs U.S., and the U.S. troops are just getting in the way. After fighting since time began, why does our government think it will be any different???? They didn't find weapons of mass destruction, they captured Sadam...........so - lets get out!!!
