Paris Hilton could go to jail after violating her probation.
The hotel heiress faces a maximum sentence of 90 days in prison if she is found guilty of driving while her license was suspended.
Paris pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving and was placed on 36 months probation in January.
Paris was then stopped by police on February 27 for driving without her headlights on - and discovered by officers to be driving with a suspended license.
The 26-year-old star insisted she was unaware her license was suspended and she was in violation of her probation.
Her spokesman Elliot Mintz said: "When Paris called me after she was pulled over, she asked if her license was suspended. If that's the case, she and I are unaware of it."
However, Los Angeles' City Attorney's Office says it has evidence proving Paris was aware of her suspension.
Spokesman Nick Velasquez said yesterday (29.03.07): "We have sufficient evidence to prove that Hilton had knowledge of the suspension, and yet continued to drive."
A hearing has been set for April 17, but Paris is not required to attend.

Thank you, Ed. And if you don't mind my adding: If her publicist claims he didn't even know her licence was suspended than the sorry tabloid bimbo seriously needs a new publicist! It's all a lot of crap, supported by the comfort zone these useless celebs know they have. You or I would be behind bars pending bail but the likes of the glorious Paris are safe from actually paying any price....and they know it!
The longer trashy celeb blondes are given special compensation the more LA spits in the face of the public. And they wonder why such a small percentage of the population here has any repect for the police.
There are far worse offenders roaming around. Don't they need some kind of video to demonstrate. They could be alleging this based on turning on the siren when they saw her and when she pulled over they thought it meant that she was swerving then. Seems more objective standards need be applied to all. On cop program they always show video cameras on them. What's going on. Doesn't anyone know. Also the notice could have been sent in the mail and it could have got stuck in someone else's junkmail or someone could have swiped the letter. Maybe someone down the chain took it because it could be sold on FleaBay the World's Online Fleamarket tm.

It is finally time to quit coddling these rich celeb's . If my child was caught in a violation like this they would go to jail. It's about time the same laws apply for all. Let her go and serve just like anyone else.
