Heather Mills is shocked by the support she has received during 'Dancing with the Stars'.
Heather, who reached the second round of the US TV show after performing a daring back flip this week, is delighted the routine sparked such a positive reaction from viewers.
The former model, the estranged wife of Sir Paul McCartney, said: "I wanted to show what I could do. I wanted to take the stigma away from the disability.
"But I'm touching people I didn't expect to touch."
Heather, 39, has admitted the difficult move she performed on Monday's show (26.03.07) was a risk.
She said: "I'm lucky it paid off."
Heather's mambo routine with professional dance partner Jonathan Roberts scored highly with the judges and viewers, putting them in fifth place out of 11 couples after two performances.
Her first routine attracted much criticism and the show's website was bombarded with scathing comments.
Heather revealed she begged producers to let her have a gay dancing partner so she wouldn't have to contend with relationship rumours.
She said: "I asked for a gay guy. I said, 'I haven't had a date in 10 months and yet I've been associated with all these different people, which is rubbish.' "
"Jonathan turned up and I said, 'Are you gay?' And he said, 'No, I'm not, I'm married.' He's just a great person."

I think you stink like mudd
I'm glad you are going by Heather Mills and not exploiting use of the name McCartney. I will wish you well as long as you show the proper respect for Paul. You owe him a great deal. For instance, you wouldn't be 'Dancing with the Stars' if not for him and his name.
Stop, say no more we are all aware of your disability, you are just hankering for voters, she was stiff as a board no 'hip giration' 'bad foot works' not insync with the music, I was appauled at what the judges said to her and what I saw, she has no rhythem. Tooo stiff!!!
No piazzaz!
To all those people that have negative comments about Heather ,we all don't know what she had to put up with at home with her soon to be ex-husband it takes both people to make a marrieage work just because he is Paul (Beetles) does not make him a saint nor her. What she did in the past is her business and what she is doing know with DWS I really think that she is doing a wonderful job. You go Heather Mills do what you have to do!!!
For those commentators who relish whatever critical or lascivious fantasies they can come up with, your fantasies are just that - something you project onto Miss Mills which say a lot about you, but next to nothing to do with her. How many of you have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize as she has? How many of you have never done something that you later regretted? How many of you have tried a back flip with or without a prosthesis? How many of you have even attempted to become an advocate against the horrors of land mines, or launched a foundation to get prostheses to people whose body parts were blown off by land mines? How many of you have been awarded an honorary doctorate? How many of you are adept/talented enough to dance as she did with or without missing body parts?
She goes into the yes column for me on that test that all hetero men give every woman except their mother. I sort of see why Paul liked her. Still I don't find her a particularly endearing personality. However, she has one leg and is brave enough to do dancing with the stars! That definitely makes a comment about character and determination. She will not win, but her performances will be inspiring regardless of the level of technical expertise displayed. It has to be good for ratings too!
give the woman a break just because we were all beatles fans does she have to be the enemy. get real it takes 2 to make a relationship work and it takes 2 to kill one. Lets face it the woman has talent. I sure the hell cant do a back flip.
I thought Heather was terrific! She has a tremendous background in music and entertainment. Give her a break, people. She is truly remarkable and has shown true grit. She has done wonders around the world assisting others with disabilities to become as close to normal as possible. In my book this also goes under the name of peacemaker. Good luck to her!!!!
Heather Mills. Your leg aside, there is evident lack of talent, humor, warmth or decency. Only in America then, will you be able to get 7 minutes of fame.
People who say everything takes two are plain stupid. Is the victim of a molester equally guilty? Is the victim of a pathological liar like Mills equally guilty? She fooled McCartney and England for a while, now they all know her for what she is -- a nutjob. Even her stepfather and former husband agree she is a liar. How many victims of her lies does it take to convince you? We've all seen McCartney under public scrutiny for over 45 years. Mills imploded in just a few months of public scrutiny because she is a fake, exploitive sociopath. As an American, I can say with confidence that the majority of Americans will love her. She's the kind of person that impresses losers with her fake history, and fake personality, and fake modesty. Actions speak louder than words. On her knees for Arab customers or backflips for the American public, Mills has shown her true colors.

After Paul made her 'crawl to the bathroom', wow, what a comeback with the backflip. Heather, your desire to become a star in your own right will not happen. You made it to the limelight via Paul McCartney, period. Once the divorce is over, it's back to the landmines. No one cares.
