Richard Gere is worried he is getting too old to play lead roles in romantic films.
The 57-year-old actor is determined to star in as many films as he can before he is past it and his good looks fade.
He said: "I'm 57 now and I don't know how much time is left before I become old and ugly. So I am making the most of what I have while I can."
Gere has four films due out in 2007, including 'The Flock' - in which her stars with rocker Avril Lavigne - and Bob Dylan biopic 'I'm Not There', which also stars Cate Blanchett and Christian Bale. 'The Hoax', is out in April.
Richard - who was married to catwalk beauty Cindy Crawford for four years and been romantically linked to Uma Thurman, Kim Basinger and Laura Bailey - is now married to Bond girl Carey Lowell.

Too old for romatic leads? Not Mr. Gere!!! But please allow the leading lady to be age appropriate. Hollywood just needs to realize that the Baby Boomer females would like to continue to see the stars of their generation on the silver screen in romantic rolls. I have been listening to a book on my iPod which Mr. Gere narrates. He has such a lovely voice! And this is all aside from how I admire him for what he does in his personal life.
I'm disappointed to hear about these sort of concerns from a man who claims to be a Buddhist. I mean, what IS old? What IS ugly? Besides, I thought we all were finally getting past this kind of thinking. Looking at anorexic, strung-out 20-somethings coming out of rehab sure isn't very appealing.
Look at Nicholson for goodness sakes. He still does romantic leads albeit unbelievable ones, and he is a F-U-G-L-Y coke snorting tool. Relax Mr. Gere, don't get your undies in a knot b/c you've got about 10-15 years left on your career.
Gere should be worried that he hasn't been in a decent movie since the late 80's.
