The Republican party has it degrees of orthodoxy, and Rush Limbaugh, a super conservative who has the top radio talk show in the American nation, has come out swinging at popular Republican California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who he claims is a closet liberal.
Herr Governor, originally from Austria, is no "girly man" when it comes to verbal sparring. Regarding Rush's comments: "All irrelevant. Rush Limbaugh is irrelevant. I am not his servant," said Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger this morning on the "Today Show," speaking to reporter Campbell Brown.
Schwarzenegger was asked about the conservative backlash that purports he is a Democrat in disguise, for supporting stem-cell research, gay rights, women's rights, environmental curbs on emmissions and universal health care.
Schwarzenegger said he is "the people's servant of California. What they call me - Democrat or Republican or in the center, this and that - that is not my bottom line. This is for them to talk about."
Limbaugh has publicly complained that Schwarzenegger's views on global warming are, "no different than what Greenpeace would say."
When Schwarzenegger called a proposed $12 billion levy on hospitals, doctors and health plans a "loan, because it ... goes back to health care," Limbaugh accused Arnold of rhetorical spin akin to President Bill Clinton referring to tax increases as "investments."
The Los Angeles Times reports that in August 2003, during the recall election, Limbaugh told his listeners: "Hear me now and believe me later, my friends. All these conservative orgasms over Arnold Schwarzenegger are ... fake." Limbaugh said Schwarzenegger was, "a closet liberal who supported abortion, gay adoption and gun control."
The LAT reports that Limbaugh responded to their report, and calls the governor a "nice guy and a sellout."

...that, while Rush may be an antagonistic Jerk, that still does not make him wrong.
Ahnold is NOT a conservative, has done ALL the things Rush accused him of, and made his own bed.
This is why Rush doesn't lose listeners.
So what Rush is saying is you can't tell the truth about global warming, you can't support helping the oppressed, and you can't be in favor of lowering toxic emmissions and still be a Republican. Interesting.
Again I ask the question
When did being Liberal (ie open minded freindly peaceful and fair to all)
become such a bad thing.
Being the opposite to liberal is being fanatical or radical and aggressive.
When did this become the only way to be.
Was it when dick the antichrist cheney said that anyone who disagrees with us is for the terrorists.
So dick cheney has demonised free thinking inteligent people for religious christian and jewish fanatics. The more fanatical you are the more patriotic you are. This is in a country which used to pride itself in freedom of choice and freedom of expression and freedom of religion. Now to say anything that disagrees with the criminals in the whitehouse makes you a liberal and therfore for the terrorists. (thier new buzz word is 'emboldening the terrorists'
All of this is most confusing for everyone of us outside the usa.
Frankly we can not understand why the so called conservitives who proport to have a moral highground do not put these criminals behind bars.
Governer Arnold had accomplished a lot of great things in the last year. Rush has not accomplished anything of honor in all the time he has been on the air. He constantly misleads a group of people who do not know how to think for themselves and hopefully the time for him to leave the airways has come. Rush, please retire.
The neocons have allways been master of double standards indeed.Using a language with suggestive power to twist facts, just as Brian said in his reaction .
Schwarzenegger ,being of european origin where people are not used to this n prefers to communicate with his electors usibg concise and rational language .I am positively surprised with his courage to stand up to biggots and neocon lunatics who want to decide how other people should live .
How can anybody be against minimum wages giving everybody a decnt living .
Mindboggling .
