Lindsay Lohan's dad was released from jail this week and told the press that he's ready to repair the broken relationship with his troubled daughter, and that he is a minister with a new attitude.
Michael Lohan was quoted by Newsday, "I think she knows she needs us both. I'm going to wait, and when she sees I'm walking the walk, I'm hopeful she'll open the door."
Newsday reports that the father of Lindsay Lohan went to Bible college while he was behind bars at the Collins State Correctional Facility in upstate New York and Michael Lohan became a minister with the Assemblies of God Ministry. "I feel absolutely blessed. I can't tell you what it feels like to be free. It's amazing...I want to help people. I don't want them to fall into the same traps I did."
Michael Lohan's intentions are to help troubled youth with drugs and other problems.
In May of 2005, Michael Lohan was sentenced to 1 to 4 years in a Nassau County Court for attempted assault, aggravated unlicensed driving and other charges.
During his sentencing, Michael Lohan told the court that he had a drinking problem because he couldn't see his four children due to an order of protection obtained by his estranged wife, Dina Lohan, during their acrimonious divorce.
Michael and Dina Lohan fought over assets earned mostly by the hard work of their daughter Lindsay.
Michael Lohan is reticent to talk about Lindsay: "My relationship with Lindsay - that's personal. I just want to be there for her. She needs both parents, not just one."
Lindsay Lohan got into a car accident recently after partying all night. WENN reports that Lohan was driving away from the New York club Butter when she hit a photographer with her BMW. An ambulance was called to the scene and the photog was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for a bruised knee.
Later, as paparazzi chased Lindsay Lohan through the streets, two photographers were pulled over by police and cited. WENN reports that Lindsay Lohan returned to the scene of the accident an hour later.
