Jennifer Garner nearly burnt her house down trying to cook.

The 'Catch and Release' star, who has a 15-month-old daughter Violet with husband Ben Affleck, is struggling with her role as a housewife.

Jennifer told Britain's You magazine: "I love reading cookbooks but I've had plenty of culinary disasters.

"Last summer, when we were living in a rented house in Boston while Ben was directing a movie, the fire department came rolling up because I'd set the fire alarm off.

"I got a pan too hot, put the chicken in and didn't know how to turn on the extractor fan."

The 34-year-old admits she found it difficult to return to work after having Violet.

She said: "During my first two weeks back at work, I cried the whole way in and the whole way home, and Violet was with me.

"She was there in the trailer and I was still really freaked out.

"How could I let anyone pick up my baby, ever? It's really confusing and emotionally draining."
