Nicole Kidman has been learning how to castrate young bulls.
The Hollywood actress - who is to star as a 30s English aristocrat who inherits a cattle station in her new movie, 'Australia' - will be required to be hands-on with the livestock, including neutering young cattle.
Nicole, 39, said: "I don't know if I'll actually have to do that, but it's best to be prepared."
The role will see Nicole - who married US country singer Keith Urban last year - return to her roots as much of the story is set in the Australian outback.
'Cold Mountain' star Nicole was born in Hawaii to Australian parents. Her family moved back to Australia when Nicole was four.
The actress will star alongside Hugh Jackman, who plays a cattle baron and Nicole's love interest.
