Britney Spears' mom reportedly pleaded with her to leave Los Angeles and return home to Louisiana before she entered rehab.
Lynne Spears was desperate for Britney to seek help long before she entered Malibu's Promises rehab clinic.
A source revealed to Britain's Closer magazine: "Lynne has been begging Britney for months to leave Los Angeles and stay with her in Louisiana. It's been heartbreaking for Lynne to watch her talented, beautiful daughter unravel into such a mess.
"Now she's doing everything in her power to save Britney from self-destruction."
The source added Lynne has been urging Britney to let her adopt her sons, Jayden James, five months, and Sean Preston, one.
Britney left rehab for a second time last week after reports her estranged husband Kevin Federline had visited a lawyer to seek custody of their children. Britney returned to the centre after Kevin allegedly issued a custody ultimatum.
The source said: "Lynne's desperate for Britney to let her adopt the boys, but Britney refuses to listen to her. Giving up the boys now could be Britney's only hope of keeping them in the long-term."

Oh please....... you think we believe this? Lynn Spears has no grounds to adopt these 2 babies. They have a father whether or not anyone likes it. Your article has trashy sources!
Wow, in my heart of hearts, both Britney Spears & George W. Bush have something in common. It's getting harder to defend either of them.
I think you have to realize that Britney is a person with feelings, who is clearly going through a really rough time right now. I think she needs to surround herself around good friends and family who can support her in getting better. Put yourself in her position. I bet she wants nothing more than to get her life back to normal and be a great mother to her too kids. Maybe everyone should just leave her alone. Yes, she has done some crazy stuff, and I'm sure she is well a wear of that, just give her a break.
Oh please! I think it's BS that she suffers from post-partum depression. Why, after months of her behavior, is this only being suggested now? Sounds to me like she either figured out, or someone advised her, to play the post-partum card card figuring that post-partum doesn't carry the stigma of alcoholism, promiscuity, irresponsible, absentee parenting and self-centered, self-indulgent behavior. It also conveniently takes the responsibility for all of her behavior off of her. After all, if it's post-partum then she can't control it, right? What a bunch of crap. I think she's reading Brooke Shields's book as a crash course in post-partum 101 so that she can be sure to 'play the part.' This crap has nothing to do with post-partum. She's been acting like an ass for years.
