America Ferrera's 'Independent Spirit'

During Saturday's “Film Independent's Spirit Awards,” actress America Ferrera of ABC's "Ugly Betty" fame, offered a bit of cheek and political commentary suggesting the U.S. will not be “the land of the free” again until President Bush goes bye-bye.The awards were held at a stage inside a tent on the Santa Monica beach, lovely Ferrera was joined by actor Zach Braff, a star of NBC's "Scrubs," to present the award for the “Best First Feature.” Braff asked: “So do you think that you have any traits in common with the country that is your namesake?” Ferrera replied: “I guess I'm a free-spirited person and America's supposedly the 'land of the free,' right?” She then added, to loud applause from the left coast film industry audience: “Or at least we will be in 2008.”

I think she has a right to her opinion. You can love a country but not the leaders. The leaders don't make the country the people do. So if thats how she feels, its her right in America!
