Anna Nicole: When will she be laid to rest?

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The ongoing drama of Anna Nicole Smith's life and death will not abate. Her funeral now will not take place before next Tuesday, the court-appointed attorney for the spokesmodel's baby daughter said Saturday.
Richard C. Milstein said in a statement to the press he was working "as quickly as possible" on the funeral arrangements for the once face of Guess and Playboy centerfold, who died suddenly in Florida on Feb. 8th, at age 39.
Embattled and ridiculed circuit Judge Larry Seidlin, after a bizarre display of overwrought emotions in court, ruled Thursday to let Milstein decide where to bury Smith.
The Miami Herald reports Milstein was in agreement with Smith's attorney Howard K. Stern to bury her in the Bahamas next to her son, Daniel.
Not content to let the ruling stand, mother of Smtih, Virgie Arthur, filed an emergency motion on Friday asking Seidlin to reconsider the decision.
Arthur wants to bury her daughter near her home in Texas, and has expressed a desire to exhume Daniel's remains too and relocate to a burial in the Lone Star State.
A medical examiner still has not officially determined the cause of Smith's death.
Still being decided is the paternity of baby Dannielyn, with Stern, Los Angeles-based photographer Larry Birkhead, and the oddball Frederic von Anhalt, the husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, claiming paternity.
The Herald reports that a private hearing in the Bahamas will determine the girl's guardianship and will resume Monday between Stern and Arthur.
The judge in that case has barred Stern from taking the girl out of the Bahamas until a custody ruling.

Vergie's greed is disgusting. She has already been told--on public TV news programs that carried the courtroom scenes--that Anna did not like her mother, did not want to be buried anywhere but where Daniel is and where she bought extra burial plots and that she disrespected Vergie's selling of photos and information about her. Does this woman really think she can get around a judge's ruling or is it her lawyer, 'Texas' O'Quinn, who thinks he can? All these grubby people want is a fistful of the baby's money. I sure hope the legal system in the Bahamas is up to this melodrama.
Anna Nicole Smith was a grown woman with children of her own. Some people don't even have a mother by the time they're almost 40 years old. Why would her mother think she has any say? The biological father might turn out to be Birkhead but that's a shame because Stern is one of the few people who seemed to really love Anna Nicole for who she was, and therefore loves her daughter too, just like a father, biological or not. I feel sorry for him over all of this.
I honestly wonder if Anna Nicole Really loves her. Honestly, Let bygons be bygons and let your daughter be buried with her son that she truly loved more than life itself !! I don't care if my Daughters son was buried in JAPAN, if that is where her son is, that's where i'd bury her!! Isn't it about what anna would want and not what her mom would want?? I mean, what happened to unconditional love here??? I thought when your kids turn 18 and it breaks your heart to let them go, you still have to do it to let them have a life. Well, same thing here, she's gone, she's dead, let her rest in peace where she'd want to be whether you like it or not. That's your daughter, you carried her for 9 months, whether i believe you truly love your daughter or not. I just think it's time to Let go. I mean, Anna never moved back to texas, if it weren't for the childs custody issue she'd still be in hollywood. but her son died in the bahamas so that is where she would want to be. She wanted to be in the ground with him even when she was alive!! Someone SOMEONE needs to just slap some sense into her MOMMY DEAREST!
Same for Howard stern, I truly respect him and think he's getting a bad rap for being an enabler, lots of them around. there are women and girlfriends and even parents that dont step up to the plate on loved ones in their lives with drug problems. but i think howard needs to LET GO and get this DNA thing over with, he knows deep down it's not his baby. And i think he'd look alot better to save his face to just say hey, lets do this, maybe you are the dad, lets find out.
This whole Anna deal shows just how stupid we have become. She was nothing but a immoral woman who was not particularly pretty, and had huge silicone bags on her chest. Why do we care anything about her sordid life and the parade of people fighting over gaining access to her estate? Could it be because we have no moral compass left ourselves? The judge in this case is a total moron and should go back to driving taxi in New York where he obviously belongs.

Virgie didn't want anything to do with Anna when she was alive, except for blame her for her own son's death, so why does she suddenly want her so much after she is dea? Money ofcourse, it is all about the money, none about the love for daughter etc. All she has proven by this is that she did not love Anna, just has Anna told us. She is letting poor Anna rot alone, has no regard for her wishes, what she valued and who she was.
I feel so sorry for Anna, that she is gone and has no say over this. Good on Howard for at least trying to keep her wishes. RIP Anna, hopefully soon.
This is a three ring media circus...complete with clowns. How ANY judge could allow someone like Anna Nicole's mother to have a say in where she's buried is beyond me. Stern is truly a despicable money grubbing person who is enjoined in his efforts to gain possession of Smith's fabulous fortune by an equally despicable judge Sedlein who seems more interested in pursuing personal gain. Truly disgusting display of the lack of moral turpitude from the bottom up. Does this truly represent the moral fabric of our people?
Mrs. Arthur has already shown her true colors when she went on the air (probably for money) and talked about her daughter's drug problems, etc. A dedicated mother's love is unconditional, and they will always protect their children, regardless of the problems that have prevailed. What kind of mother would trash their own child, for any amount of money, especially after the child has died? If any money is paid for information,I wish it could be paid to someone that will expose what life was like for Anne Nicole as she grew up under the domination of Virgie Arthur. I feel that Howard Stern truly loved Anne Nicole and was correct to shelter her from the evil deeds and words of her mother.
I think that the judge should make all the men that claims to be the babys father to get the DNA test and let anna rest in peace. As for mother she needs stay out of it about any sayin about where the body should be .

There is no contesting the line of inheritance when there is no Will. Vergie Aurther has every right to appeal the decision of a moronic judge. She is the mother looking out for the interests of he granddaughter. Trying to protect her from whatever caused the mysterious deaths of her daughter and grandson. All you know is what Stern is saying. There is no written proof that Smith wanted what Stern says she wanted. Smith seems to have been the victim of drugs, which incidently started when she met Stern.

Anna Nicole herself sold her son's pictures for 1/2 million...(to pay for the funeral) well, the plots only costed $7200? Wonder were the rest went? I suppose methadone isn't cheap on the islands...
Also, according to the Pathologist they hired for Daniel, he has yet to be paid, and doesn't expect to at this point....hmmm? Seems like the dearly departed ANS was just as greedy and opportunistic as the people she associated.
Interestingly, it seems that she will have to wait too be buried, like she made her son wait (about 6 weeks).
There really is universal justtice isn't there...
Why shouldn't the mom make any money out of this ordeal? The woman raised Daniel for many years, had an out-of-control child that probably wore down her physical and mental health. Hey, if she can make some money, then go for it!
My take is that the surviving adult family's wishes take precedence whenever there isn't a spouse. Brothers and sisters first, then the actual parents. It further strikes me as odd that Danielynn's supposedly appointed attorney should have had a voice into the matter.
Did'nt Cheney say 'It's not about the money.'? Do these folks really 'love' Anna Nicole?. Well. does a vampire really love blood, or what??? I don't think it's about the money - it's about the blood.
Who really thinks this is at all important in any way to anyone at all besides those/related/involved?,yack yack yack about nothing,don't look in your cupboards,you might see why you have to put so much thought into others lives,etc...

That she buried her son in the Bahamas and bought a plot there is a pretty strong indication that she wanted to be buried there. That her son had just died after the birth of her baby among an orgy of powerful drugs for both mom and son, indicates an absence of sound mind or body. If Florida law gives the deceased to the next of kin, that should be the mother, not an infant.
It was a great court win for Stern, the one who really loves...As easy as stealing a family from a baby. A great win for Stern indeed, the one who really loves the prospect of tens of millions of dollars.
Take a pregnant girl with a drug problem on her way to rehab and divert her to a country where the (fathers) name on the birth certificate trumps biological paternity. (If you want to steal another man’s unborn, the Bahamas is a pretty good place). Having the mother and brother buried nearby is one more clutch on the legal claim of fatherhood.

It’s the perfect crime, and probably not a crime at all in the legal sense. Keep Mom alive long enough to give birth and put your name on the birth papers, then enable the baby’s brother and mother to drug themselves to death.
What’s to stand between Stern and any possible inheritance? No brother, no mother, perhaps not even the biological father if he can stay in the Bahamas. If there’s ever an inheritance awarded, how long before the new baby joins her brother and mother in that burial plot in the Bahamas?
One would have to be an idiot to not believe that Howard Stern knows for sure if he is the biological father or not. Paternity tests are easy, cheap, and can be done privately. If he was the biological father, he surely would have done the tests and had them publicized. He is the only one who could legally swab the baby’s mouth. Instead all he does is keeps others from finding out if they are the real father.
I just wish, like thousands of others, that they would just let this girl be buried and rest in peace.
Her mother is only thinking of herself, all the press and visitors (to the grave) that she will get (and probably charge for)that she is just showing how little she did and does care for Nicole. If Nicole was my daughter I would think only of her and lay her to rest in peace, no matter where, I could always go and visit, but no. This mother is just out of this world and beyond anything I have ever encounter, (even people on drugs were better people)>
Let it go lady and get yourself a life, Nicole did not think of you as a MOTHER anymore while she was still alive so give her at least the grace and dignity of resting in peace that you would give to anyone else.

I just thank God that you were never my mother or even close to me, most mothers, including my own and myself would only want what is right for their child, and Nicole told you often enough she wanted to be with Daniel.

It seems there would be a good chance that whoever the baby's father is will eventually have custody of her. If it is Larry Birkhead, the child would probably end up back in the U.S. anyway. Seems like to me it would be better to just go ahead and lay Anna Nicole and her son to rest somewhere in the U.S. Then at least family and friends could visit her and her son's grave. So many think that Anna Nicole's mother is only interested in profit, but I disagree. She's a mother too. I don't blame her for wanting Anna Nicole's grave to be in the U.S. And the child is her grandchild. I am sure she never realized Anna Nicole's time on Earth would be so short. If she had, she would tried to maintain a better relationship with her. Who cares about the money? I would fight for my daughter and her child if it were me.

On the other side we see a mother sobbing, and her Texas lawyer with a stunned look.

What a delightful soap opera! I feel heartless enjoying it so much...but I really don't care for any of the characters except the baby who would probably be better off if she didn't get any money and could be adopted by a loving family. Of course that won't happen which makes this a tragedy not a soap opera.
Since I can do nothing for the child, I sit back and enjoy the extravaganza.
Now for the next plot twist...I suggest that none of the men claiming paternity be the father. Can you imagine how many men would come forward then and claim to have had 'relations' with Anna?
When the Florida Medical examiner was asked by a reporter if Anna Nicole Smith choked on her vomit, he declined to answer.

After Fiday's ruling at the press conference I knew there would be an appeal by Vergie because she obviously didn't agree. The most telling thing was when Birkhead's attorney was trying to force her to speak to the reporters and prompting her what to say. She even said she didn't want to say anything! The attorney said, 'Just tell everyone that you loved her.' Huh? I remember thinking how in the world does SHE know Vergie wants to talk or what she wants to say? I just found the whole scene very strange, in view of the whole nature of the trial and what had just happened.
I do think the ruling was right, though. So when the heck are they going to bury her! What good is the law if it doesn't get carried out?
