Britney Spears has left rehab less than 24 hours after admitting herself.
The troubled pop star is said to have checked out of California's Promises Malibu Treatment Center in the early hours of Wednesday (21.02.07) because she found the regime "too tough".
A source said: "It's tough in there, and obviously Britney just couldn't handle it."
Britney's treatment programme would have included hiking, art classes, yoga and horse riding. She would also have to answer 10 questions to convince the medical staff she was serious about getting help.
It has still not been revealed what Britney was being treated for.
After leaving the clinic, the 25-year-old singer met with criminal defence lawyer Blair Berk, who previously represented Mel Gibson when he was charged with drunk-driving.
Britney, who is facing a custody battle with her estranged husband Kevin Federline for their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, spent an hour with Berk.
Her family has grown increasingly worried about her erratic behaviour in recent weeks. Concerns were intensified after Britney decided to shave all her hair off last weekend.
Her mother Lynne has now moved into Britney's Malibu home to look after her children.
This is the second time in a week Britney has left a rehab centre after less than a day, following her brief visit to Eric Clapton's Crossroads Centre in Antigua.
