Britney goes to rehab in the 'bu

Britney Spears checked into rehab last night (20.02.07).
The 25-year-old singer admitted herself into California's Promises Malibu Treatment Center following concerns for her erratic behaviour.
Her manager Larry Rudolph confirmed: "Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into a rehab facility. We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time."
Rudolph did not disclose what Britney was being treated for.
Britney's treatment is said to involve an immediate detox with 24-hour supervision, followed by intense therapy sessions.
US reports claim the 'Toxic' singer has allegedly taken cocaine, ecstasy and prescription drugs.
Britney's decision to seek help follows a wild weekend where she shaved her head, got two new tattoos and was seen partying while wearing different wigs.
Last week, she visited Eric Clapton's Crossroads Centre in Antigua, but left rehab after less than 24 hours.
Britney checked herself into the in-patient facility after her father Jamie reportedly begged her to get help on Sunday (18.02.07).
A source told Us Weekly magazine: "Jamie just told Britney how much he loves her and that he wants her to get help. He told her that he's afraid for her safety and that she needs to take a look at her life and make some major changes or everything is going to get worse."

Has anyone considered that she might be dealing with a more severe health issue, like cancer ? - why can't we give her some space ?

Why is a mother of two out all weekend partying and doing drugs anyway? Where are the kids in all of this? What a shame. It's sad that someone else has to raise her kids because she can't grow up.

Okay Bruce is a stretch... and the others got paid to do it... she should have held out for a roll in some movie to shave her head. Now she won't be able to get paid extra for it if everyone knows all you have to do is get her high and she will cut of her hair.
She really needed to do a photoshop test first. She doesn't look good bald. Some women can pull that off. She doesn't have the face for it. It makes her chin look really tiny.
I'm so sad about her. Poor poor girl.

Well, I'm happy to see that she is getting her problem under control whether it is her own doing of from the prompting of her family. I hope that she can recover and be a productive member of the hollywood community and a great mom.
She is broken and i would say has come to the end of herself after realizing that all of the attention and riches have not made her happy. What is someone to do when what they put all of their hope in turns out to be a fraud? There is nothing left to fall back on.
Perhaps Britney believes the best years of her life and career are behind her and now she has nothing to look forward to but a vicious custody battle with her ex, declining record sales, declining beauty, declining fame, the hard duties of a mother, etc. Success came early for her and it is difficult to top that early success later in life. She may never again be as popular as she once was. Before she was a celebrated entertainer but now she is quickly becoming the butt of every joke. She needs to establish new goals for herself. Instead of being self indulgent and pitying herself she should be thankful for all she has. She should use her fame to draw attention to causes that she truly believes in and devote her life to helping others who are less fortunate.

As usual the stars can't find anything constructive to do with their time and have to go and binge on drugs and alcohol. I am happy, however to see this new young mother Britney taking some responsibility, even if her dad had to beg her to help herself.
I guess these stars are all the same, Drew B., Lindsay L ... if only the could tase what real life is really like.
