Kelly Osbourne has revealed a member of her family has HIV.
The TV presenter, daughter of Sharon Osbourne and rocker Ozzy Osbourne, made the revelation at an AIDS charity benefit at London's Koko club.
She said: "This charity is really important to me because one of my family is HIV positive. And I am so, so proud of him."
An onlooker said: "Kelly seemed really upset and could hardly speak through her tears. It was really emotional to hear her reveal something so personal."
Kelly attended the Sunday night (18.02.07) event with her cousin Terry, 40, star of TV show 'The Salon'.
Kelly and mum Sharon have been involved with a number of HIV charities, however, this is the first time a personal link has been revealed.
The Osbourne family have gone through a series of serious health scares. Sharon overcame colon cancer in 2002, her eldest daughter Aimee had breast cancer surgery in 2003, while Ozzy was involved in a near-fatal quad bike accident in December of that year.

Just to reply to Maureen - I expect she did speak to the family member before she said this - I wouldn't think it would be an off the cuff remark. Plus, a male relative? could be dad, brother, cousins, second cousins, uncles, nephews, distant relatives... she's from a close family so even if this happened to her 3rd cousin twice removed, it's going to affect her whole family...
It's obvious it's the cousin.
Duh,duh, and maybe.
You know, A its not illegal to say that someone has HIV in the US, all known positives are put in a database and they have to tell all of there current and former partners so its far from illegal to say someone has HIV. B who cares, she was just showing that HIV can effect anyone no matter what race, or social standing a person is.
Well we know it isn't her, hand me a ten-foot pole will ya?
If the President would only make it illegal to have HIV, there would be no AIDS.
Although its not illegal to say someone has HIV it should be illegal to be Sharon or Kelly Osbuorne.
Why should it be illegal to reveal that someone has hiv it something that could happen to any of us so dont down grade kelly for having a speech about hiv maybe thats everyone problem they have never had someone there to talk to them about it she just trying to be helpful to others as well as her family member.

I do believe that if someone does have hiv and they know about it, they should inform the person who they want to be sexually active with, because its not fare for that person. It basically murder if you ask me because wants you catch hiv your life is gone
Oh my God Nikki Six gave Ozzy Aids?

It is really messed up that Kelly revealed that one of her family members is hiv+. This is a private medical situation that is not news for a member of the family to share. As hard as it is to keep these kinds of secrets, it is wrong and borderline illegal to reveal hiv status. She made it pretty clear that it is a male member of her family -- which doesn't leave much guessing to the imagination.
There is nothing to be ashamed of when faced with hiv, but it is a private medical diagnosis, and it should be the choice of the patient to reveal his or her status.
