Cameron Diaz joined hip-hop producer Pharrell and former US vice president Al Gore to announce the launch of Live Earth - a concert aimed at raising global warming awareness - yesterday (15.02.07).
The 24-hour concert - part of Save Our Selves - The Campaign for a Climate in Crisis - will take place in seven continents on July 7 and feature over 100 music acts, including Pharrell, John Legend, Black Eyed Peas, Fall Out Boy and Kelly Clarkson.
Cameron said: "This is the only issue in the history of mankind that affects every single one of us - our planet is in danger.
"But at least someone is doing something about it."
Live Earth concerts will take place in China, South Africa, Australia, Britain, Japan, Brazil and the US.
Pharrell said: "Our atmosphere, our planet, is being abused, and we need to make this part of our daily consciousness.
"On July 7, you're going to see the biggest party on earth."
Gore - whose film about global warming 'An Inconvenient Truth' is nominated for two Oscars - added: "We have a climate crisis that is a planetary emergency.
"We have to respond. In order to that, we need to get the message of urgency and hope to billions of people around the world."

YEAH RIGHT may the dumbest person on the web- I feel significantly less cognitive for having read his comment. Stay Upstate Java Man.
One day people like Yeah Right are going to feel like real idiots.
While today they freely drink the Kool-aid and spout off the typical neocon talking points, very soon they won't have anything to say about global warming and its causes.
Just like WMD,the Iraq-Al-Qaeda connection, etc....
Shouldn't it be 7 countries not 7 continents?
You guys aren't being very constructive here.

Ask upstate NY about global warming.
I sure worry about it as I gaze at the six foot piles of plow driven snow in my driveway.
The only incovenient truth here is that the climate changes! Did cavemen bring us out of the last ice age with their campfires? I was taught in school that we were still exiting that ice age, that the climate was warming because that is what it does when you exit an ice age. But that was before it was profitable and fashionable to blame industry for a global rise in temperature.
Saying that human activity is the sole cause for global warming is just another excuse to buy a Prius and put solar panels on the house because Big Oil is the Antichrist.
Get over it folks, Mars and Venus are also warming right now because the sun is warming. It does that in cycles, has been for millions of years.
