Don't worry Brandy, you'll get off just like I did. I molested all those little boys and more. I got off because I'm blick and famous and I can get away with it. All you got to do is scream racist and the DA will back off.

Every time something major happens involving a black person why does it always have to be 'unfair' treatment'? This najeef fellow and the rev. jessie jackson need to pipe down and start looking at the facts. Someone died in a crash. Not everything has to be racist, in fact I think the tables have turned and if anything if you are a white male or female in the US you are pretty much screwed.

Najee Ali, leader of Project Islamic HOPE is the first one to cry foul. Interesting. I think we need to think critically about this. What if Ali is correct? Isn't having the Death of another on your conscious punishment enough? That would be tough to live with. What is best for society? Should Brandi be punished for negligence? or Just sued for millions by the family members of the victim. What is best for society? Is jail a constructive solution? or is there an alternative punishment that would better serve society?
-
If Brandi where White, would Ali be speaking out? I think we need to look at the motives of opportunists, serving their own groups agenda. We need to constantly be aware of interests that contradict what is best for America. Whether it be the police department serving their own political agenda or the Islamic Hope trying to make an opportunity where one doesn't exist.
-
And one thing we should be greatful for, and never quell, is the ability to stand up and speak out freely on what you percieve as injustice. We all have to remember not to make a judgement until we look objectively at all the facts.

So let me get this straight. Brandy has not been charged with anything yet but black 'leaders' (whiners) are already crying afoul. However, if these leaders' children were killed by a white driver they would be screaming for justice!!!

It is a horrible and tragic accident not matter what the skin color is of those involved. Lets not make this political please! Brandy seems like a sweet girl and feels horrible however, her actions need to be investigated at the very least as someone died.

The Black Leaders .... Just think if there was a group called the White Leaders advocating for white folks. Can you imagine the uproar among blacks?
It is so sad that black are allowed to be racists and can get away with it. If the Black Leaders want 'justice', they need to hire OJ Simpson's lawyers.

They always pull the race card. Blacks can never own up to their actions. Its always someone else fault. Its always the white man putting them down. It think she better get her purse out cause she's going to have to pay for what she done.

Many people are posting assumptions, not facts. The CHP found that Ms. Norwood WAS NOT distracted nor was she speeding at the time of the accident. In police speak that means she wasn't doing her makeup, talking on the phone, dancing in her seat or driving with her eyes closed. The CHP also determined that Brandy caused the accident and their recommendation is that she should be charged. The DA is going to review the case to see if charges are warranted. Fair enough. The DA did not state that because Ms. Norwood is a YOUNG, BLACK CELEBRTIY we will not charge her. From personal experience I can tell you that accidents happen and people sometimes die. It's tragic, but it wasn't intentional. The correct term for Ms. Norwood’s charges, if there are any, would be Involuntary Vehicular Manslaughter. The keyword is involuntary. Brandy didn't set out to kill someone, an accident happened. She should be held responsible for her actions, not crucified for her celebrity.

I don't think that the penalty the police have laid out is unreasonable. Somebody died, and it wasn't because of anyone's car malfunctioning, therefore it was human error. Human error triggered by Brandy, who was most likely negligent. Anyone in the same situation would be facing the same charges. Making this out to be a race issue is being either naive or opportunistic.

Why is it that every time people of color get into trouble, the Black leadership starts yelling racism?

Come on folks. Did you ever hear about the boy that cried wolf?

If it was the average joe driving the land rover and Brandy in the Toyota, you all would be screaming that Joe should be charged with a felony. Brandy is not immune to the law even if she is a celeb.

'Alaska Girl', I too deplore the lack of spelling ability demonstrated on most blogs. However, in the context of innocence it is 'you're innocent' not 'your innocent'. Ironic isn't it.

Half of you are missing the point.

We see time and time again, low-income and people of color are not treated fairly in the American justice system.

This is not one of those cases, this is a case where someone clearly did something, accident or not, which led to the death of another person. Brandy is neither being oppressed nor institutionally marginalized, which this kind of 'cry foul' stuff, nonsense.

It also undermines other movements to reform the criminal justice system to treat minorities and low-income folks more equally.

I was not aware, until reading these posts, that when Laura Bush (Laura Welsh at the time) was 17, she ran a stopsign one night and broadsided a car driven by a friend of hers, Michael Douglas. Mr. Douglas died at the scene of the accident.
Curiously, no charges were filed against the 'First Lady'.
It was all written off as a sad accident.

Based on that incident, should Brandy be charged? Hmmm
