I screwed up when I was 19 and went off the road at high speed with a friend in the car. We were lucky he only broke his wrist because the car was cut completely in half.. It sucked. It was reckless driving and I admitted my guilt.. Needless to say, I didn't get a break because of my skin color or short hair, etc.

Someone died due to her lack of attention while driving. That's a crime regardless of whether you are a celeb.

Wonder if her cellphone records were checked during the investigation.

Here we go again..as if causing the death of another person is not a crime, we have to bear the 'Poor us...we're being picked on again!' people each time a person of color is charged w/ a crime..
You caused the death, you go to court. Right? Or is it different for a Black ?
Where I live, unless there are extremely extenuating circumstances, a rear end collision is nearly always the fault of the person who is unable to avoid hitting anohter driver in front of them, regatdless of color.
Grow up people....Black or otherwise, bad driving that causes a fatality is a triable offence. If the victim was black, and the rear-ender white, and there was no charge filed ...then what? Silence? We know better....

Brandy causes someone to die and gets only MISDEMEANOR vehicular manslaughter and these community leaders are saying she is some sort of 'target?' The target of what? A conspiracy to catch the guilty party to vehicular manslaughter, maybe, but not some sort of racially driven conspiracy attacking an innocent black woman. She did it so she gets punished plain and simple. The biggest injustice here is that someone died but second in line is that Brandy killed someone and she is going to get a slap on the wrist for it.

Man it is great to be black in america today. I tell you what if people do not get their heads out of their butts we are heading to a very bad place. I read the other day arabs were refusing to give rides in their cabs because of their religous beliefs. Everyone wants the USA to follow their culture but they want us to not practice ours.

White or black, celebrity or regular Joe, no prior record, no substance abuse, and you don't see jail time for this type of accident.

First, my condolences go out to both families. It is unfortunate what happened and may God Bless you all through this ordeal. I nor anyone else posting on this sight know what happened that day. But, we have to remember that people were scarred and battered emotionally by these events. Unfortunately, someone was also killed. We should support Brandy and the bereaved family and pray that they get through this the best they can. I am compelled to feel bad also for people who are posting and have such hatred and unforgiveness in their hearts. Get off your behinds, stop looking at so much television, internet and race specific programs and get to know people of different races, color and religions. Allow yourself to open up. If you do you will find that America is a wonderful place to live and share with others. I have learned so much from people of different backgrounds. There is so much out there for everyone.

May God Bless you and may the Blood of Jesus wash over you and cleanse your hearts and bring you peace.

A few years ago there was a famous actress who was driving over the speed limit in Lost Angelos and while driving through a school zone she hit and killed an eight year old boy. She got a slap on the wrist. She served no jail time. Every time she spoke about it she only talked about herself. Only one statement was issued by her publicist to the family. She never even went to them herself and apologized. I can't remember her name and I might have chosen to forget it just because I was so disgusted by her. It does not matter what color you are if you are famous. If you commit a crime and you have some kind of name in Hollywood it is like a 'Get out of jail free' card. Hollywood has no qualms about using the celebrity to get out of any and all horrible behavior.

I was not aware, until reading these posts, that when Laura Bush (Laura Welsh at the time) was 17, she ran a stopsign one night and broadsided a car driven by a friend of hers, Michael Douglas. Mr. Douglas died at the scene of the accident.
Curiously, no charges were filed against the 'First Lady'.
It was all written off as a sad accident.

Based on that incident, should Brandy be charged? Hmmm'

Please point out the relevance of the Laura Welsh/Bush incident, and how it applies here.

you guys that want to come down so hard on brandy are only showing how racist you really are. it was an accident and she didn't hit and run, she wasn't drinking, it was an accident. where's your balls, when illegal immigrants are killing citizens in record numbers and pulling hit and runs and driving under the influence. many of them are serial criminals and have been deported many times and still recieve mininal sentences, if that.where are your voices. you want to declare war on brandy while your own country is being invaded and taken away from you. you are tough on the war in iraq from the comfort of your armchairs. you guys disgust me and because of your stupid mentality we as a country are losing our sovernity.
if you had any real feelings you should be praying for her as well as the person who died in the accident. no to worry , her family will try to sweeze brandy dry and that will bring you satisfaction that a black person lost that which you obviously believe is too much for her. shame on you all!!!!!

By using the race card they are hurting people who are really discriminated against. Brandy made a mistake that cost someone their life. She needs to be held accountable. Im sure she feels horrible about this. She even admitted the accident was her fault right after it happened. She has also not asked these people for their support as far as we know. Nor have I heard Jesse jackson or Al Sharton come out about this sad situation. Let's not bring stuff in that doesnt belong here. There is one group of people pushing the racism angle.

Are you serious?Jan 31st, 2007 - 03:35:33

As so many of you sit behind the anonymnity of your internet connections, and try to show how there really is no racism in America, and that Blacks and so called Black leaders make it up, I want some of you to take a look at what you have written. I would also ask you to think about a few things:

1. While slavery in America officially ended in 1865, Jim Crow and anti-miscegenation laws were in full effect until 1964 with the passage of the Civil Rights Act. 1967 in Virginia. Now I could be wrong, but it's damn hard to pull yourself up by your bootstraps when you can't go into the store that sells boots, and you can't get into the school where you learn to make them. Interestingly enough, my father was born in 1951 in North Carolina. He was black, and he didn't have shoes as a child. I wonder how much better his life would be if his father could have made him shoes.

2. Black 'leaders' do not speak for all Black people. White 'leaders' do not speak for all White people. Do James Roesch or James Dobson speak for you? Neither Farrakhan nor Jesse Jackson speak for many Black Americans. So, the next time the so-called Black leaders pull the race card, do what many Black people do and shrug your shoulders. Roll your eyes, too.

3. Why is it when a non-race issue becomes a race issue for no other reason than sensationalist media reasons, do some White people feel the need to vent about how the one or two black people they happen to know act like jerks? Why is it that those specific black people become the template for what all black people must be like? Yes, there is a 'hood. There are loud black women there, and young black men who carry 9mm's and grab their crotches. But there is also a trailer park, with loud white women and young white men who carry hunting rifles and grab their crotches. We have our ghetto, and you have yours.

4. Who killed Emmett Till? Who killed Natalie Wood? What really happened in Chappaquiddick? Robert Blake? Why did it take 30 years to find James Ford Seale? See, the thing is, you don't even have to be a celebrity to get away with a crime, if you're white. Kenneth Lay shattered thhe lives of more whites than all the blacks you can name, as we're too busy robbing and killing each other to be bothered with you. If Ken Lay had lived, how much time would he have done?

Before you get too mad, and write some more dumb sh*t, let me tell you, I'm one of the first people to tell you, be you white, black, or whatever, that blacks are squadering the opportunites that are available to them. But I'll also tell you that 30 years of government enforced equality does not make up for 400 years of government approved bondage. Some of us are lost, but in time we'll find our way.

And to the guy who wrote about civilization and how Europeans brought language to Africa, leave Stormfront alone, and read a book.

Barring a mechanical failure(which is highly unlikely) she will be held responsible. Have you heard of an accident where somebody was rear-ended and the person in the back wasn't at fault? Her insurance company will hold her at fault so why shouldn't the legal system? This conversation is ridiculous.

Not knowing what the law is in CA, I can tell you that in IN and FL you are responsible for what your vehicle does while you are driving it. Barring a mechanical failure, the driver of the vehicle which rearends another is S.O.L. That is the law in many, if not all states. Race has nothing to do with it. In fact, she's damn lucky they aren't going for a felony charge instead of a simple misdemeanor. The race card is just so demeaning and so yesterday for so many people - GET OVER IT!

Guess what, no matter how worked up everyone is getting and venting their anger against each other here, we have no say in what the outcome of this is going to be. When that time comes, then maybe that will be the time to voice your approval or disapproval ~ save your nerves 'till you know whether or not you have something to cause you to be in such a turmoil, or better yet, go out and compaign against this insane situation in Iraq!!!!!

The first person who screams about the situation being racially motivated, targeted, etc., is usually the racist of the lot.

When driving, is not the driver solely responsible for avoiding a collision with the car in front of them? Yes.

She was not driving in an attentive manner, causing an accident from the rear, resulting in the death of another person. Therefore, she is at fault and must be charged in some manner. Whether she did it deliberately or by accident is of no consequence. The fact remains that she could have prevented such a terrible thing from happening with proper driving.

There is no possible excuse for such a deed.

I agree with the fact that Brandy should be held responsible for her actions. However, black, white , Asian, etc., how can one come up with $50 million dollars for a life? If it was someone other than Brandy, would they be charged to pay $50 million dollars? How can you put a value on the life of a mother and wife? That life is priceless!! These black leaders need to let Brandy deal with her consequences, which I am sure that this is a hard time for her as well, being a young mother also.

i think she should be held responsible for what's happened here if it was and ordinary citizen they would have to except the responsiblility of their action.

It is tragic that a life was lost and in most cases some sort of misdemeanor charge is filed. But, White Americans have been getting away with crimes for centuries. Let us not make this out to be a race thing because ya'll don't want to go there! You people are still complaining about OJ! No one cares that Robert Blake got off for killing his wife. You want to sweep under the rug that a 14 year old boy in Mississippi was beaten to death and shot, which no one was ever brought to stand trial. Or, the countless unnamed victims killed due to white hatred and terrorism in the early to middle 20th century! Not to mention the Rodney King beating. My point is, whenever a Black person/celebrity does something the reaction of white America is 'guilty until proven innocent.' White people are 'innocent until proven guilty.'
