Jan 30, 2007, 12:30 GMT
Rod Stewart will reportedly be paid $1 million to perform at a private birthday party for a US Wall Street tycoon.
Legendary rocker Rod, who is currently touring the US, will pick up the bumper pay cheque from businessman Stephen A. Schwarzmann.
Schwarzmann's wife, Christine, who is helping to organise the party at Manhattan's historic Park Avenue Armory, is believed to have approached Rod.
Schwarzmann, CEO and co-founder of the Blacktone private equity and management company, is ranked 73rd in Forbes magazine's US rich list.
The business heavyweight has an estimated personal fortune of around $3.5billion.
Some of America's wealthiest citizens are expected to attend the February 13 party.
Rod - who is engaged to former model Penny Lancaster, 35 - is also due to play at New York's Madison Square the following evening.
