Nicole Kidman was hospitalized after being involved in a car crash on the set of her new film in the early hours of Thursday morning (25.01.07).
The 39-year-old actress was shooting her latest film, sci-fi movie 'The Invasion', when her camera-rigged stunt car crashed into a light pole on set, in downtown Los Angeles.
The accident occurred at around 1am when the stunt driver of the camera rig towing the Jaguar Nicole was sitting in skidded going round a corner at 45mph, police said.
Paramedics were called to the scene but were not required to transport anyone to hospital.
Nicole was one of eight people subsequently taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by private vehicle. She suffered no serious injuries and was released to return to the set later that day.
Warner Bros. released a statement, saying: "Nicole Kidman was in the vehicle at the time of the accident and was taken to the hospital for evaluation. She was released shortly thereafter."
The studio also announced that "two crew members sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision."
The actress was shooting a scene in which her character is attempting to escape from zombie-like creatures clinging to the roof of her car.
Nicole's husband Keith Urban and her adopted son with ex-husband Tom Cruise, Conor, 11, were reportedly on set at the time.

I was anxious to know about Nicole's condition when I heard about this mis hap, and was then relieved to know that no one was hurt. My involvement with this film was a small part but major to me, as I am a big fan of Nicole Kidman. I played a featured role in the embassy scenes and am anxious to see the release of this movie. Even with my moderate envolvment in TV series parts and inde films, I can say that mishaps do happen, as with anything else in life. However, from what I experienced on the set of 'The Invasion', there was consistant and considerable effort taken by the crew and director to assure safety for everyone involved. This occurance must surely have been something beyond anyones control. As for the re-shoots......well, post production does reveal the areas that need improvement. This is standard with any film and wise is the filmmaker that strives for perfection! I'm glad to see they are making the corrections and can't wait to see the finished product !
