Ewan's paragliding resolution
Jan 20, 2007, 8:00 GMT
Ewan McGregor's New Year's resolution is to take up paragliding.
The 'Miss Potter' actor is a big fan of extreme sports and has been keen to master the aerial activity after discussing it with a colleague.
He said in an interview with Esquire magazine: "I really want to start paragliding. A guy I worked with told me about it. I did hang-gliding in Australia but started looking into paragliding. I read a few magazines and thought this must be the closest thing to being a bird."
The 35-year-old star has also revealed he has swapped travelling in fancy limousines for bike riding while shooting his latest movie in New York.
He said: "I've started cycling. I think it is the right approach, not only because of global warming but because it's quicker. I'm working in New York on a film called 'The Tourist' with Hugh Jackman. I've got myself this tiny apartment and a bicycle. It's the best way to get round New York."

A cracking sport well worth it, I have been at it for 3 years and love every moment in the air. Ewan would be well advised to learn in the alps with a private instructor... With a helmet on no one will know who he is and everyone will be busy trying to get in the air...
Wales is the best place in the UK to learn paragliding. I learned how to fly with Paraventure in Abergavenny. From the first tentative hop I became addicted; it's a truly life changing experience. Ewan is more than welcome to join the South East Wales boys (and girls) on the Blorenge.
