The Oscar-winning actress stars in 'The Fountain', which is directed by Aronofsky, and made the drastic decision to leave their New York apartment to make sure the pair kept a professional relationship during filming.
Weisz said: "For Darren this film was an immense undertaking, he was really focused and he didn't have any time to listen to what I said about anything. He was doing his job and I was doing mine, the best way that I can describe it, is that I met the director and he met the actress."
The 35-year-old actress, who gave birth to the couple's first child Henry in May this year, has also revealed that she and Darren were worried about working together in case the movie was a flop.
She added: "There are stories of couples working together where it didn't work. We made a decision before we started that if we were going to do it we had to have good boundaries. We had to have a good understanding."
