THOUSAND OAKS, CA - Nikki Bacharach, the daughter of Burt Bacharach and Angie Dickinson, committed suicide, the songwriter and actress' spokesperson said in a released statement on Friday.
Nikki Bacharach, 40, suffered from a type of autism called Asperger's Syndrome. She killed herself Thursday night at her condo, said Linda Dozoretz, a spokeswoman for the family.
“She quietly and peacefully committed suicide to escape the ravages to her brain brought on by Asperger’s,” the statement said. No other details were released.
“She loved kitties, and earthquakes, glacial calving, meteor showers, science, blue skies and sunsets, and Tahiti,” the statement said.

I feel for Nikki.
I have Asperger's syndrome and this is a very odd world to live in, if you see it differently from 99% of the people around you. But I would not describe my brain as 'ravaged' with it, (as the reports I have seen stated). Most of us with Asperger's do not want to be cured. We want to be understood.
(Was 'ravaged' her view, or that of someone else? It would be good to know...)

My sympathy too Burt and Angie.
As a grandmother of two Autistic grandchildren I know the pain.
I am very sorry for your great loss. It is very hard to lose a child.
I also know the Angie has been vigil at her sisters side for many years. I have not heard much about her lately. But my heart goes out to you Angie for your pain.
My sympathy goes out to the family. I remember the beautiful song that her father wrote for her many years ago. Peace be with you Nikki.

I am SOOO sorry to read about Nikki's passing. From what I've read or heard, she and her mother were VERy close. I can only imagine what Angie is going through. I will certainly say an extra prayer for that family.
