"Splash" and "Kill Bill" star Daryl Hannah, most recently plucked out of a tree by LAPD during a protest over an urban garden, reveals to America's Most Wanted that she narrowly avoided being sold as a sex slave in Las Vegas in the late 1970s and is now coming forward with her secret to help others forced into prostitution.
The leggy blonde from Chicago has joined forces with international human rights groups to help free sex slaves worldwide.
"Elle Driver" reveal her secret to John Walsh, host of America's Most Wanted, she was studying theatre in Los Angeles when she jumped at the chance offer to model for an album cover in Vegas.
The 46-year-old snapped that it was a scam, and she was about to be forced into a sex-slave ring. Hannah told Walsh she and another girl escaped out a window and fled back to Los Angeles, but she has always been haunted by the memory of how close she came to becoming forced into prostitution.
Hannah has been active in environmental and human rights issues lately, and chose to lend her name to the sex slave cause after learning there are more than 14,000 girls smuggled into America annually from Eastern Europe and Asia who become part of secret sex rings.
She says, "The more I learn, the more I am moved to take action." Hannah says she will go undercover strapping microphones to her body and carrying a hidden camera as she travels to brothels around the world to document the disturbing truth in a film that she will fund herself.
