I think Al Sharpton and James Brown's adult children behaved like vultures. It is apparent that James Brown loved Tomi Rae and his grown children should have respected that fact. The 'hate' should have waited until after the funeral. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are opportunist. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were finally able to 'show out' at a famous person's funeral. During Coretta King's funeral they were not allowed to spew their nonsense talk. I know James Brown's soul is not at rest because of the disrespect toward this woman, Tomi Rae. The funeral was like a circus....there was so much drama. I could not believe that Al Sharpton intentionally mispronunced Tomi Rae's name by calling her Tami Rae. This man is the biggest con artist! Unfortunately, James Brown's legacy will be squandered because of his disrespectful and greedy children! James Brown children and Al Sharpton are such an embarrassment!!
I find it amusing that even this so called lawyer of J.B did not bother to tell him that he cant go around calling this woman his wife as they are supposedly not married.Again I bet u all these stupid people were smiling at her in her face when he was alive.I think it doesnt matter that they had not seen each other for a couple of weeks.They are making it out as if he was a saint when he was arrested for beating her up at some point.They had problems like everbody else, its a very terrible time for this woman and all these vultures are just looking for blood,SAD!!!

James Brown's funeral was a disgrace. It was sooo gettofied!! One of his daughter's dancing like a Fool. She must have been high to danced that much. Al Sharpton and the Wife/Companion were disrespetful. Michael Jackson kissing James Brown in the mouth. James Brown deserved a better funeral.

I would just like to say that I did see the funeral and I did see the special with Tomi Rae on Larry King. I too was drawn in my Tomi Rae's performance. I felt bad for her. She came pepared to look like the victim in this case with pictures and the marriage license. However, my husband is a friend of the family and everything that the attorney said my husband told me after Tomi Rae's interview and before the attorney's. It is true that she was the companion of Mr. Brown at some point but Tomi had left James Brown and had lived in Las Vegas and that is where she was when he was on his death bed. I know she said she was in rehab. and I know she sai that she anne her son had no where to stay. Well the son does have somewhere to live and that's with Tomi's mother and that's where he's always been because the mother raises the son. In conclusion I just wanted to say that it's not this be conspiracy againt Tomi.
Mr. James Brown was a fantastic and gifted entertainer. However, for Al Sharpton to make this man walk on water at his funeral was a slap in the face of law enforcement and the many manhours they used for the constant domestic violence calls and Mr. Brown's high speed chase. There were other great things to say about James Brown besides saying 'being arrested when he didn't do anything.' Didn't do anything? Has anyone seen the pictures of Mr. Brown's crumpled metal rims after his high speed chase while allegedly on PCP? Did anyone see his mug shot that circulated on the internet?
I believe Mr. Brown was an addict and this is partially the blame for the violence he displayed towards the females in his life. Another reason I believe he was so violent towards the women in his life is the same as Richard Pryor's. Neither of these men had nurturing females to raise them and their anger was taken out on the females closet to them. I also don't believe he was that close to some of his daughters either. How can one sue a parent over a song?
Elvis Presley is still loved worldwide but a saint he was not and Lisa Marie will tell the media that in a nanosecond. Let's not forget that these men were also human beings too.
The other siblings are NOT step siblings...they are HALF siblings...as this child by Tomi Rae is their HALF brother...( they share the same blood line from their father, James Brown...)

It is only right to hold of any titles like ' mrs.' until this is settled. I also feel that if he wanted her to have any part of his estate he would have put it on paper. He knew something was up and sooner or later we will know what that is. As far as the Rev. being rude to her, if he did I was childish. Lately she is the one who should be ashamed, she states he was with out home... wrong she has a home blocks her the Brown estate. She stated no one called her about his arrangements... the phone works both ways. In addition she stated she did not have any money but just today she was on MSN news stating he gave her a check for 80,000 before he died telling her this should get her through and her son is getting his SS and she getts a SS check as well. The whole this public apperance and bad mouthing family and friends of the late James Brown is just a act by her to get her 15 mins of fame.
Al Sharpton is a disgrace! His involvement in James Brown's funeral kept the dignified, talented, respected and celebrated members of the music industry from wanting to have anything to do with it. Anyone with half a brain doesn’t want anything to do with Reverend (Ha) Sharpton. He’s a conniving opportunist. He inserted himself in yet another situation uninvited. He should pay his taxes and shut up!

James Brown will truly be missed by everyone and was the begining of what we listen to and watch everyday. I think Tomie Rae is nothing but a fake. She wasnt married to James Brown and the kid may be his but EVERYONE know she wasnt married to James Brown.

Even though she may not have been the perfect companion/wife I know James Brown just like any other man had his faults as well. We as a society need to stop acting like people were Saints after they die. If she was in rehab. I aplaud her effort to attempt to straighten out her life. But the most important thing right now is to make sure that that child is taken care of;becasue, James Brown had just as much to do with that child being here as she did. And if the grandmother was raising the child that makes James Brown just as bad of a parent as she was;because, with all his friends and family that think he was a perfect man he had plenty of support to raise that young man himself. But nobody knows completely what goes on in a marriage/relationship except the two that are in it. So I just pray for everyone and let God deal with they are sincere or not.
James Brown was a talented showman. He brought you alive and put you on the good foot. Try Me, Lost Some, Prisoner of Love, Think, are but a few of the songs that I remember growing up in the projects. Mr. Brown put us on track with his 'Say it Loud, I'm Black and I'm proud'. Now, we all have our inner deamons, Mr. Brown made a contribution to society with his song and dance.
Now, everyone wants a piece of the pie. Don't you all know that the love of money is the root of all evil.

i think that James Brown's kids needs to grow up.where were they when James and Hae was inlove........i think that some of the fortune belongs to his wife and the five yr old boy....but most of iy should rightfully go rh the elder kids...It was a shame that she had to be locked out of the house and the five yr old had no where to go.what a shame what a dreadful shame.........
Tomi Rae is a prime example of so many women who just don't get it. As a happily married woman of almost ten years, I have far more sympathy with her innocent 5-year-old son than I do her. I'm little moved by her sobbing declarations of being locked out of 'her' home. It's the home of the deceased, not hers. He paid for it, not her! It's his name on the title, not hers! And she isn't his legal wife, so she isn't entitled to anything, period!
Besides, it's her own fault for not having her marital status together in the first place. You can't marry someone while you're already married to someone else. She should have had her marriage annulled before she 'married' Brown in 2001; or, since she got it done after the fact, she should have immediately went to the justice of the peace with Brown and redid the marriage to make it legal. If she loved him that much, she would have gotten her business straight with him, especially since she knew he was sick and wasn't getting any younger.
Now she's giving the world a sob story about all the things he promised would be hers after he died. Yeah, right! Why do women do nonsense like this; give a man food, sex, children, and a clean house without insisting on him committing to her in marriage? Women who do that are selfish and stupid! The sad thing is that innocent children who didn't even ask to be born end up suffering for it. Imagine a poor 5-year-old who has known this old man as his father now having his legitimacy questioned! It's a shame, and his mother should know better. She could have at least had the paternity test done before he died so he wouldn't be subjected to such humiliation. Stupid woman!
Furthermore, even though I may not agree with everything Sharpton says on a given day (including some of the overboard remarks made at Brown's funeral), I believe that his grief was genuine that day. Brown and Sharpton were very close, as was Jesse Jackson. Brown was like a father figure to Sharpton, so it was only fitting that he officiate at his funeral. Also, considering that Brown was an accomplished dancer and performer, I think the jam session at his funeral was also a fitting tribute (At least they did all it at the JB Arena instead of in a church).
Tomi Rae, however, was a complete drama queen, and her fake falling out was the real disgrace. If I was one of Brown's daughters, I would have had to pray not to yank that woman by her hair and throw her off the stage with her antics. Contrary to her side of the story, they were more than gracious in letting her participate at all. And Sharpton was perfectly right in not referring to her as his wife, because she wasn't one! The title of wife or widow belongs to those who earned it.
Brown's lawyers are doing the job he hired them to do. That man worked hard for everything he had, and they should make sure that only his rightful and designated heirs receive his money. These live-in girlfriends need to get a life! If you're going to be that stupid not to legally marry the man, at least have your own money and your own career so that you can have something for you to live on; because when he dies, you can forget about getting anything from his estate! I could see if she was elderly like Brown was, but she's too young to be having this woe-is-me attitude about a man she wasn't even legally married to!
In conclusion, know the difference between being a girlfriend and being a wife. Girlfriends shouldn't live with their lovers outside of marriage. They need to have boundaries and be financially independent of their sweethearts. Only lawfully wedded wives should inherit their husband's money.
I do NOT care whether his family likes the the woman, but I do care about the innocent 5 y/o kid! Those grown kids should be ashamed of themselves. They had many lavished years and are grown-ups now. This 5 year old deserves a much larger part like they had growing up.....for college and such. They should be VERY ashamed!!!!
Also, this little boy is NOT their step-brother.....he has half the same blood and that is called a half-brother. Lastly, don't punish this innocent kid out of hatred for the mother.
I agree with you that the 5-year-old deserves more protection out of all of them. But the will has been read as of yesterday, and Brown was the one who neglected to include his son in his will, not his grown children. He chose to leave them something; they didn't shut anyone out. I wonder if they took a paternity test yet to make sure that child is Brown's. This way, at least the will can be contested on the child's behalf. And how can a man neglect to renew his will when he has additional children? The whole thing is sad.
Also, it's not that I hate Tomi Rae; I'm just upset that women in general (not just her) don't go about these relationship matters with more wisdom. At the end of the day, my children WILL have the basic necessities of life, regardless of who their father is, if I have to get up and do it with the help of God. My point was that legal marriage has protections and privileges that too many people take for granted, and women in particular cannot afford to be in live-in relationships where they are not married to the man they are with. And living off his income outside of marriage is especially hazardous, because when he dies, there is no guarantee that you yourself will get anything. At least if you married him for real, you have the right to sue the estate since the law recognizes the inheritance rights of legal spouses. That was my point.
Remember there's a GOD that knows it all. What's in the dark will come to the light by DNA and Marriage Certificate. Get them!
I believe this whole scenerio is ridiculous. I feel really bad for the child because he did not ask to be here. I do not understand why his mother did not make sure this was cleared earlier in the relationship. If she was in rehab as she states than this child has bigger issues which are that his mother is really unstable. Many people know that once a person dies and there is money or nice objects envolved people tend to act crazy. I am sure that years from now they will look back at this and realize how insane they acted. I do feel that it was Mr. Brown's responsiblity to include this child in his will but I also feel that his older siblings should open a trust fund for this child with a portion of the money that they will receive from their father. This is truly an awful situation because life should not end this way. Brown's attorney should have also educated him on the fact that he needs to include his younger son. This Tomi Raye person needs to sit back and relax she is making a complete fool out of herself. Many people know that many people promise many things but unless it is in writing it does not matter. I viewed some of the footage of Brown's footage on the internet; it appeared to me that it was a big show and not very respectful. I do not know the truth concerning Al Sharpton rudeness to this Tomi Raye person but he is suppose to be a man of God and he should be assisting people with their mourning not creating more diversity during times like these. I do agree with him on the fact that if she is not his wife she should not be announced as his wife. Ms. Raye was not official divorced at the time of her attempt to marry Mr. Brown this in it self shows that these people do not handle or follow thru with the necessary business that needs to be handled for situations to run smoothly. To now question this childs DNA is wrong for 5 years he has lived as James Brown son why challege that now that money is involved for pete sake family this is your little bother think of the damage you are causing him and he just lost the only father that he has known. Also, where have these children been all his life what have they accomplished why all the greed. I am sure these children who are trying to show such a negative side to Ms. Raye has a few skeletons in their closets as well. I feel that there is no reason to do anything hurtful to anyone. I wish the family well and pray that they resolve this matter rapidly. I would like to add that these adult children feel that they are entitled to have this money because he was there father. Adult children you are not entitled to anything it is from his heart that he left you something. Mr. Brown crossed difficulty paths to get where he was if life please respect HIS hard work it is not his job to take care of grown people. Good luck and God Bless.

We should just live our lives and fix whatever is broken in it.... and let them work out whatever is broken in theres. God will have a way to work every thing out and it will be done rght
I remember a James of long ago. He was a good man, but he did not stay a good man. Men who abuse their wives are cowards. They will fight a woman, but not another man, or a system. That is why James did nothing about his family concerns and left it to someone else after his death. A long time ago, I thought James had some class. The funeral proved he didn't. That entire family is so ghetto. Too bad the Brown money can't go to the poor who are looking for ways to better their lives and let the Brown family and friends fend for themselves.

James Brown you were an awesome entertainer to me. I grew up listenig to you're music. and right now as of 12/25/o6 I've been listening to your c.d.20 greatest hits. I pray that all family matters will soon be resolved.

Everyone should step back for one second and take a look at the entire picture. Someone has passed away. Someone's..................... father,grandfather,uncle,cousin,companion etc. How would it be if James Brown was broke and passed away???? Would there be confusion. In regards to the Godfather's estate-everything should be divided evenly. If DNA is a question the mother should step forward and have the test performed if there is no doubt that James Brown is lil' man's father. When youre a parent your faced with difficult situations placed in front of you which are trials and tribulations. My heart goes out to the family for their loss. I hope that everything is resolved soon so that James Brown could be laid to rest in peace.
