The impetus and logic behind Hating Women is especially sticky for this reason, and two others: first, Boteach's argument against pornography, prostitution, and other 'bad' female activities falls into the same trap as the feminist arguments he blames for certain ills (namely 'women behaving like men' in order to attain economic privileges otherwise withheld from them) by attacking social groups rather than limited possibilities for social expression and advancement (or, say, a vulgar market economy). Any doubt that suppression of basic human rights is still big business in this country is quickly quashed by the dozen or so states who have amended their constitutions to prohibit gay marriage, and anyone who insists that it is actually the queers and the racial minorities who hold sway over public discourse need only look so far as Kansas (my home state) where many still find it perfectly acceptable to call men 'faggots,' beat them up, and 'nigger-rig' them to telephone poles. I really can't imagine that this is the fault of gay men and African-Americans.
Second, Boteach fails to consider how cultural expectations are created and maintained, thus blinding himself to the repressive realities of heterosexual forms of partnership (which need not always undermine their benefits) and that models of positive and productive behavior are in reality both ungendered and utterly acculturated. Mostly, though, the problem is that Boteach's argument is horribly exclusive, applying only to women who want to be wives and mothers, and who want, moreover, to be proper 'women' rather than, say, useful citizens outside the confines of gender. If anything, this book relies too heavily on gender constructions and inequality as the handmaidens of social ills. Boteach's book merely reinforces that women and men are from different planets, making women horrifyingly responsible both for themselves and their Martian counterparts in a culture where, as Boteach admits, they have limited social and economic power.
She needs to grow up!
What are you talking about? You do not know what kind of mother she is!! She comes across as a very loving mother, she most likely has an amazing team working with her, probably has a nanny to help her with her children. I am sure they have a very privileged happy life. Do you really think that what you see on TV/online/mags is real??
Hopefully as they grow up they will continue to be sheltered from the media and have as much of a 'normal' childhood as possible. She is not doing anything that would warrant having her children taken away. Some people are quick to say hateful things and it is just sad.
Part of all the crazy stuff you see on TV and here online, helps sell her CDs and books her concerts. It's funny to see people get so heated about her antics, you are reacting exactly how you are supposed to. She is a smart girl, with a multi-million dollar team at her back...perhaps you should take a moment to think about how the entertainment industry works before you play into it's pocket!!
Do I agree or applaud what her team is doing to sell her image? No. But one hopes that she will have the foresight to grow out of her plaything image as she gets older, she is still very young, and has a huge career founded on sex...why is it a surprise to see this behavior now; because she has children? Are women not allowed to be sexy and be silly once they have children? That is ridiculous. If your antics were always in the public eye, I am sure that some doozys would be captured on film.
Hating Women: America's Hostile Campaign Against The Fairer Sex By Shmuley Boteach is definitely an interesting book, women and men should read it because he has a lot of really important things to say...but I don't think that he is saying anything new. Women are more free then we were even 20 years ago, but women have always been seen as sexual objects by some...and now we can see men getting turned into objects as well. The trends we see online/tv/magazines are the way of things...does that make it okay? No. Should we not teach our children to respect each other because of it? No, of course not!! But we have to acknowledge that society is becoming more degraded and will continue to do so...so we have to choose where to spend our money and educate our young people to make responsible choices.
As Britney comes into herself more, she will mellow out --- or not. If you do not like what you see then change the channel..er..click the mouse...whatever it takes to turn it off.

Britney is 25 years old & is very rich. Translation she has alot of people, nannies, housekeepers, assistants & security to help her out with her Sons. Notice I didn't mention K-Fed. Except for donating sperm he has been absent & useless.

Every decade Hollywood zooms in a female Blonde Celebrity with little or no talent(exceptions Madonna & Marilyn Monroe-WERE THE REAL DEAL). If it's not Jessica Simpson, then it's Paris Hilton. Men feel sexually connected to adult White blonde women who act like 12 years old - always have & always will be!
Which really begs to ask the question, what is really going on here when old men go strolling the internet looking for pics of Britney? Are they really interested in her career? Or are they looking at her because she looks, acts & speaks like an immature little girl!
i agree with blondie. in my opinion, the only 'blondes' that had real smarts were Marilyn Monroe and Madonna. Madonna is very talented, and Marilyn was also. Britney has none. Men do like brainless hussies, and Britney sure is one.
The public allows these no-talent people to become rich by giving them all this attention and by buying the cd's, books, etc. How sad that all this money goes to feed their selfish, outlandish lifestyles, when it could help so many well-deserving people. Think about that the next time you are tempted to buy anything relating to them and keep your hard-earned money or donate it!!!!
