A fire consumed most of the main lodge and restaurant of the famous Manka's Inverness Lodge, which was allegedly triggered when an apple tree crashed into the back of the structure, destroying the world-famous restaurant where Prince Charles had dined last year. Reports the Marin Independent.
Actor Jake Gyllenhaal and his family including his sister, actress and new mother Maggie Gyllenhaal, who according to the Independent "vacationed there frequently," were among the dozen or so guests who had to run into the wind and rain at about 3 a.m. No injuries were reported.
"From my perspective, it looks like a total loss of the main lodge and the restaurant," said Marin County Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Giannini to the Independent.
"Jake was helping me pull things out of the fire," Daniel DeLong, a co-chef/owner with his partner, Margaret Grad, said to the Independent.
Firefighters from neighboring Inverness, Marin County, Bolinas and Skywalker Ranch responded.
DeLong told the Marin Independent they were coming off "a great Christmas where he cooked grits for not only the Gyllenhaals, but actress Frances McDormand and her director husband Joel Cohen.

Maggie and Jake were staying in cabins, not in the lodge. I know because I WAS in the lodge.
