Christmas Cranks 2006: Trump and O'Donnell tie

The clash of the Gotham city titans continues, much to the bemusement of most who feel the two loudmouths deserve each other. Three months into her new job, Rosie O'Donnell has affected ratings in a big way on "The View" despite Barbara Walters alleged private bitching to Donald Trump over the ex comedienne.
Rosie has boosted ratings but also invites criticism over her lack of a "Governor" on her comments, with the latest being the outrageously public row between O'Donnell and Donald Trump.
O'Donnell said she wasn't talking about it on Thursday's show but couldn't help herself, saying she was afraid to leave home the night before "in case somebody with a comb-over came and stole" partner Kelly O'Donnell from her.
Trump went on Larry King Live and slagged Rosie over and over, "loser" and "fat" were among the insults hurled at O'Donnell.
Through long distance proxy, Barbara Walters issued a statement pleading for peace.
"Donald Trump is a personal friend of mine and has been a good friend to The View for many years," she said. "I'm sorry there is friction between Donald and Rosie. That said, I do not regret for one moment my choice to hire Rosie O'Donnell as the moderator of The View. I certainly hope and expect that this tempest will pass quickly."
"Rosie O'Donnell has wreaked havoc on the show but revitalized it and redefined it," said Tom O'Neil, senior editor of In Touch Weekly. "The show has gone from The View to strong views."
The show's typical audience of 3.3 million so far this season and is up 13 per cent over the same period in 2005, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Walters is "obviously exasperated" over how the show has become a battleground, O'Neil said, but smart enough to know it needed a jolt.

Let's face it.. The Donald can do what he wants with his Miss USA, it is his. Rosie puts her two-cents into everything. She has one point of view, her own. Yes the Donald stooped low in calling her school yard names, but let's face it, wouldn't you love to say the same things when you wanted to. He has the money and power to do that. I like him even more after this episode of fun. I also think Rosie is a pig. I know people that worked on her show and she was NOT a liked person there. She treated people like crap and had people constantly fired. People that had lives, wives and children. I promise you it was for the wrong reasons. I know people at the View and they hate her as well! Go Donald!

It IS Donald Trump's pageant. It never ceases to amaze me how illogical people are. Her main gripe with the fact he gave the young lady a second chance was that he is no 'moral compass'?? Okay, so because he has committed errors, he cannot try to help others improve their ways? Her behavior is simply gross and disgusting. I must admit, I took a little sinful delight in his rebuttal to her unsolicited comments she made about him. This should prove to be a grand message to todays youth. The message is such behavior won't be tolerated, but yet compassion is important and forgiveness is crucial. She was thisclose to losing that title. Moral compass??? Does Rosie O'Donnell shine as a moral compass?? I think not. Grrrr....You have MY vote, Donald!

Only housewives and homosexuals consider their disagreement important. She's overweight and he has a weird hairstyle. Is that important? Roseanna Barr had a few of her outspoken moments and media ploys in her hey-day, but she soon faded out of the lime light. Rosie O'Donnell is not far behind Ms.Barr.
Donald Trumps financial support doesn't come from ratings, so he has the lawyers, the money, and the clout to win this battle of media wits. Rosie just has to learn how to keep her fat mouth shut while Barbara Walters just sits there as she capitalizes on Rosie's rants until fades out into the lime light.
Rosie was doing her job on The View, namely to entertain viewers. She made a wisecrack about Trump. Trump shouldn't have been such a 'chump' and risen to the bait. How petty. And his rejoinders centering on her appearance are puerile. Who is the loser here?

Trump was clearly fair game and Rosie seized the opportunity to
voice her satire. Trump should have simply let it pass, but again
went pubic with a series of outright slurs typical of fraternity boys
whose macho and slimy narcisism is a form of insensitivity to others
feelings and emotions. It would be wise for Barbara to invite Donald
to visit and apologize and end the matter. He could simply say
he mistook her satire for ridicule and didn't mean to insult her or the
hundreds of millions of fat people

It’s funny how the guy who likes to paint himself as the classiest man alive shows us he is nothing else than a low-class individual. He’d look good in a wife-beater outfit. I long said that this guy is the epitome of kitsch, look at all he does. Only in the US could he be glorified as a tasty person, he is actually ghetto all the way. I actually happened to skim through some of his books, and it’s amusing that in one of them he is actually does the same thing with the other girl on the view, Joy. I find the time and energy tied up with this kind of show is remenicient of the Jerry Springer show. I would hope the View would hold it to a higher standard then to be a gossip laden show. I always watched this show because I found it to be a quality news worthy and entertaining with class type of show. I respect Barbara Walters and the the other co hosts a lot. They have a class act. If Joy has something to say it's said and over. I feel it's human nature to gravitate towards the cheap entertainment that Rosie provides, but in the long run, it is going to be disableling for the show. As for Donald Trump, what he does with the Miss America pagent is his business as he foots the bill. And no matter what anyone wants to think about it, he is a good buainwaa minded and capable of making money through real estate and many other sources. His children are well educated intelligent people. So somewhere he did something right. I feel it's time to put this stupidity to rest and move ahead. I have watched Mr. Trumps show The Apprentice since season one and find it amusing because of the contestants. I have even bought one of his books in the past-but after witnessing his public display of rudeness and hurtful remarks that I'm sure WERE very hurtful to those who are overweight or will never be attractive enough to even be let in the room of one of Mr. Trumps beauty pagents-the days of my hard earned cash going in his pockets are over and I will pass watching the upcoming season of The Apprentice.

And, there is a difference between Rosie talking about Trump's hair, and him fighting back with 'You're fat.' Rosie knows that she's overweight. But The Donald seems oblivious to his ridiculous hair situation. They may both be arrogant in their own way, but I think The Donald trumps Rosie on this one – he is clueless and arrogant, while Rosie is only arrogant.

A lot of these anti-Rosie comments sound suspiciously like the comments Trump himself made. I can easily imagine him paying an army of Trump-minions to do a smear campaign on O'Donnell.
Why Trump disclosed what Barbara Walters told him privately? He breached the trust with Barbara. And why Barbara had to issue a statement denying what Trump had disclosed publicly? And who cares that Trump had a bad hair day or needs a face lift.
Can't wait for the law suit. Those ratings will zoom higher. I hadn't even heard about the show before. I will watch the show while driving cross country.

It's an acceptable thing to state one's view, as Rosie O'Donnell surely has a right to do; however, it is not an acceptable thing to mock and ridicule another person in order to make one's point. That type of behavior should not be tolerated on network television whether it builds ratings or not. In fact, it shouldn't be tolerated in polite society at all. It demeans the attacker more than the person being attacked. Rosie cares so much about children and their welfare that I cannot understand why she so often sets such a poor example for them. Whatever happened to civility? It seems to be disappearing on 'The View.' I know ratings are important, but what is next to be tolerated? To me 'The View' has almost become 'Springeresque' since Rosie has joined it. Whether her points are valid or not isn't the issue. Rather it is her crass and debasing method of making her points, often carried almost to the point that destruction of another person's character is the way to state one's opposition to his/her views -- destroy the enemy! And, unfortunately the response by Donald Trump hasn't been much better. But his response to her attack in no way justifies her behavior. As we have hopefully all been taught: Two wrongs don't make a right. If 'The View' needs a Rosie O'Donnell for one of its hosts, then perhaps 'The View' has outlived its effectiveness. It certainly seems to have put civility aside for the sake of ratings.
I am also short that TRMP stock and laugh to the bank all the way! Maybe I should sue Trump for insulting truck driver since I was a truck driver before I started shorting that worthless stock.

I just don't even know where to begin here. All a person has to do is Google Rosie and Donald and see who is the better person. Rosie gives, and gives, and gives. She is a wonderful human being. Anyone who refers to themselves as 'the' anything has issues. I just can't believe some people could even begin to stick up for Donald and his third-grader comments. I'm with Rosie on this one. I'm not a leftie, lesbian, or even really a liberal in any aspect...but Donald Trump's remarks are inexcusable, and I thank God my 20-year-old doesn't have to have him as her 'moral compass'.

This 'MAN-CHILD' responded like a bullie on the play ground, not to mention exposed his true 'chauvinistic' colors. Instead of addressing those 'untruths' as he sees them, by 'defining' of 'clearifying' them with intellectual remarks, he called her 'fat,'which she'll tell you she is, a 'pig,' a 'pig face,' a 'slob' with a 'truck driver's mouth'(isn't that insulting to truck drivers with a stero type?), he insinuated that she was 'mentally retarded' when he refered to her 'I.Q.' he called her 'ugly' and a 'disgrace' that she should worship the ground she walks on that a woman as ugly and fat as she is successful. He then toped his tiraid off by insinuating he'd have her partner 'stolen' from her! Now tell me something, where are any 'relevent comments' by him which acurately address Rosie's 'opinion' and or comments. Mr. Trump, has talked 'smack' about Martha Stewart, Carol(his former assistant on the Apprentice) and now see's fit to attack Rosie 'cheaply.' All these women are women of success in business no matter their faults. Mr. Trump's hair has been made fun of endlessly, with skits on SNL as well not to mention he makes fun of it himself as does Rosie about her wieght. He had every right to 'repsond' but nothing she said in general, wasn't true! He is the last person who should be anybody's 'moral' compass, however, he is the perfect example, of how a 'man-child,' who is constantly reminding us all he is worth billions, measures success soley on the size of one's bank account! The point is, Rosie's comments where directly regarding a current 'action' and or 'actions' of the past, which Mr. Trump has in fact been a part of. Instead of 'exposing' Rosie's comments on 'why' her comments were 'mis-informed,' Mr. Trump spewed every 'hateful' word in our society that is aimed at demoralizing women. He said them 'gloatingly.' Close your eyes, no matter who you are, and image yourself or your wife, your daugher, your mother, your girlfriend or any women or girl you cared about being called those derogatory comments: a 'fat pig' a 'loser' a 'retard' a 'pig face' a 'slob' a 'disgrace' and 'lucky' to have any 'finical' success, how would it make you feel?
I can't recall ever hearing any thing 'gracious' or 'humanitarian' that Donald Trump has been linked to that doesn't benefit Trump 'professionally' or 'personally' in making him money or giving him publicity for some new show oar adventure. I've never once seen him on T.V. doing or giving some of those 'billions' to organizations that make a difference in lives most sweep under the table. Rosie, Oprah, Mathew McConaughly, Ellen Degenerous, Bono, Brad Pitt and even President Bush and several other 'finically' successful people have help to build or fund homes for New Orlean's families and the surrounding areas, as an example. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeello, isn't buying, building or finicially supporting real estate adventure's his thing? Donald go fight a real cause! Go support a real cause that truly effects ALL americans. Why do you give a rat's rear end about anybody on the View and thier opinon? Go make your infant daughter proud of you and make a difference for children that aren't fortunate to be born to 'billionaires!'

I can just guess what it is like to live in the Trump household as a kid. He seems like such a bully, and reminds me of someone close that uses intimidation and mean words on his wife and children to get them to 'do the correct things'! He should be teaching tolerance and how being a bigot can hurt other people. How many so called 'fat' people work in his organization, or do they all have to pass a weight test?

Rosie is a pig mouth. I haven't watched the view since she has been there. Barbra has made the View, Rosie garbage. I do not like that Barbra did that do all of us. It was our show too. And Barbra didn't care about that. Rosie can't keep her mouth shut. Mind her own business.

Over the years I don't think anyone is surprised when Rosie O'Donnell chomps at the bit about whatever target she has her sights on that day, but Donald Trump's reaction is incredibly surprising for a man with as much money, influence and connections as he has. Even the owner of a small business has the fortitude to handle an insult without turning it into a big frenzy unless that's really what Trump wanted. Had he said, 'Ms. O'Donnell has a right to her opinion although I do not agree and it saddens me that she would resort to personal attacks, I still wish her all the success in the world,' he would not have only defused the situation but come out looking like a much bigger person. Instead he calls her names, makes fun of her appearance, and brags about how much money he has. That's nice. I wonder how all of the overweight and less fortunate people that scramble to his hotels and casinos feel about giving this man their money now?
It is time for us all to realize that having money does not make someone a quality person. I've heard of some very generous acts on the part of Donald Trump. Too bad he had to show his true colors only to make one think 'tax write-off.'

But since I'm only a truck driver I'll say: Trump get over your bad hair day and get a face lift. You couldn't ram Rosie and Barb will shove one up yours.
It's all about the hair. Trump has bad hair, and everyone is supposed to pretend that he looks great. Rosie hit Trump right where it hurts the most. She called him on the hair, and he freaked. We all have a soft spot, and Rosie found his. Trump's reaction is completely emotional, and he doesn't seem to have the fortitude to control himself.
It didn't help that she also called him 'a snake oil salesman,' and mentioned his bankruptcy (which he denied - but it's well documented). I think Trump thought he was immune to such criticism. He might have reacted more appropriately if the criticism were professional. But he is reacting emotionally to a kick in the gut.
If we had to trade the two of them for used cars......we wouldn't even get a Yugo.

This was the best entertainment of the year. At least it didn't get physical! Even kids could have watched it. I commend both of them for being such good comedians.
I think I have watched all the videos on this. I have seen Donald and Rosie both on TV. 1st let me say that Donald builds business's which have jobs and such. To say Donald has not brought anything to the table so to speak is a load of crap. To be honest, I fail to see anything Rosie has done but put people down, and push her sick views on others. Rosie is a sick disgusting person just like Donald has said. I can not believe that people allow their heads to be filled with such nonsense that Rosie trashes this country with. She she not be allowed on TV.
With that said Donald is not perfect either. However, Donald is a business and I would be really upset also with what Rosie said. And I agree with Donald, more people need to go after people such as Rosie. I am personally sick and tired of having view points such as Rosie's pushed in my face.

I think Donald Trump should be ashamed for the disgusting comments he has made. I lost total respect for this man. He is totally classless! What an example he is setting for his children to follow. Donald should go get some counseling. It shows that he is just a spoiled rotten little boy in a man's body! GROW UP DONALD!

As much as I find her annoying, full marks to Rosie O'Donnell for pointing out Trump's sheer hypocrisy in 'awarding' a 'second chance' to Miss USA. There's only one word to describe Trump's behavior in the past few days - disgraceful. If this is how the rich and so-called sophisticated people of this country behave - go on national telivision and abuse people they disagree with, or people have criticised them, justly or otherwise - it's a matter of concern for the entire nation. To begin with, the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants have nothing to do with real beauty, even though the contestants and winners may be super-hot women from their respective states or countries. It's all about the female body and the contestants' sex appeal. It's a real head-scatcher how these sex objects become role models for the young generation. So when one of them (Miss USA Tara ..) decides to have a little harmless fun (and harmless it was), it's really strange that Trump and his cohorts turn it into such a big deal. Thanks Rosie, the hypocrisy's all over the place, it takes guts to point it out every now and then.
