Excuse me mr. writer, but I would think you would know its Sir Bono, NOT KNIGHT BONO, another perfect example of a waterdowned journalist, who doesnt know of anything more creative to write about, or maybe its your editor who asked you. Whats next write an article on excrement contents of the stars. This just in Bono ate corn yesterday.

yea...it looks like whoever read the previous comment has a bit too much time on his/her hands...and failed to read that the title of 'sir' or 'dame' does not come with the knighthood that Bono has been given. That is because KNIGHT Bono is not from a country in which the queen is the supreme leader. Furthermore, i would like to see them write a noteworthy article instead of criticize the works of others.

It's an honorary knighthood, so it's not 'Sir Bono.'

Well, it still remains that some people have too much time on their hands.

Regardless, congratulations to Bono, for he's that rare 'star' musician who gives more than he receives.

Oh, how wonderful that an Irishman from Dublin could recieve the 'honor' of knighthood from the British Empire. Just think if Bono lived in Belfast, he would be considered Sir Bono. I prefer plain ol' Bono...

It is honorary, just like Reagan (England) and Greenspan (Scotland). Sir does not apply in a country like the USA with a clause in its Constitution prohibiting its officials accepting any Title, of any kind whatsoever, from any King, Prince, or foreign power. See Article I, section 9, last clause. Reagan and Greenspan should have politely declined the honors. The title for Bono is between him and the Queen. The republicans in Ireland may view it dimly. Similarly, it is Connery, Shir Sean Connery, Knight of Scotland, but not to all the small r republicans out there.

Everyone is a critic ~ get use to itDec 23rd, 2006 - 18:05:25

Bono has drawn some criticism from George Monbiot, Bianca Jagger and others for getting too close to those in power and therefore running the risk of legitimizing their actions and 'trying to patent the language of poverty reduction.'
Bono and the other members of U2 have also come under criticism for moving part of their multi-million euro business empire out of Ireland to Amsterdam to minimize tax liability.
They live in villas and not in poverty, so Bono isn't giving more than he's getting, some of you all seem to think him a saint.... NOT.... he's just a very popular celebrity doing his best with all the gifts that have been bestowed upon his life and trying to make a positive difference for some others.... we should all be so giving to others because then we would earn the name human , which derives from the word humane.
God bless us everyone

Who cares if Bono is gonna be a knight or not!!! Its just more Bono/U2 hype which they need to keep their industry going. The most capitalistic band in the history of music selling equality and justice to their so-called fans in the richest western countries that are the actual cause of global inequality. If Bono was truly serious aboiut these issues he would tell Tony Blair and the Queen where to go. Bono likes hanging around with the other rich and powerful players (like himself) who are the actual causes of these problems. Twat!!!
