Sir Elton John and Robbie Williams have been playing schoolboy pranks on each other.
The 'Rudebox' singer got the games started by telling fans at his concert in Sydney, Australia, exactly what hotel and room the flamboyant musician was staying in.
Elton - who was also in Sydney to perform and staying at the same hotel as Robbie - retaliated by taunting Robbie about the success of his reformed former band Take That. Robbie quit the group in 1995 and the band officially split later that year.
The legendary songwriter wrote a note congratulating Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald on topping the single charts with their song 'Patience' and the album charts with their LP 'Beautiful World', and slipped it under the 'Let Me Entertain You' singer's door.
The note read: "Dear Robbie Take That - Number 1 Single and Album. Great result! Love Elton."
Elton's partner David Furnish confirmed: "In a moment of irresponsible juvenile delinquency Robbie stupidly announced Elton's room number to a concert audience.
"As a means of expressing his appreciation, Elton informed me he has slipped a note under Robbie's hotel room door."
Elton's agent Gary Farrow insisted the late-night pranks were just a bit of harmless fun.
He said: "It was just a bit of fun. They were just bored at the hotel."
