Nicole Richie tells friends the Vicodin usage was because she gets really bad menstrual cramps.
According to several celebrity newsites and Perez Hilton, she's allegedly upset over media reports that she's addicted to pills and insists she only "occasionally" takes Vicodin once a month at the start of her period.
Not just for the reasons to take Vicodin, she also has issues with incorrect reports over her weight. She is unhappy CHP cops listed her weight at 85 pounds on the police report because she is allegedly quite proud of the fact she has gained weight recently.
Richie is said to be at 95 pounds, not 85 pounds, as reported. "She doesn't know where the cops came up with 85 pounds and it's annoying to her." Says an unnamed source to TheSuperficial.com.

ITA with the other poster. Once you drop below a certain weight and are ANOREXIC as Nicole clearly is you cease to menstruate regularly.
No self respecting doc would give an adult dosage to someone who is clearly not maintaining their weight -- it would knock them flat as apparently it did here.
It is so sad to see people like her! I think we should start an exchange program and ship all the folks that want to starve themselves to Ethopia or some other famine location and give the folks who are fighting to survive a new home!
I seriously dont know why people are constantly trashing Nicole. It's so not fair! Especially when they read the wrong information in the tabloids. Some of you may think she's anorexic but honestly their are other weight conditions that aren't eating disorders. She has a Thyroid Condition that causes her to lose weight even though she's trying to gain it. She's only slightly underweight but she can still menstruate. So get your facts strait and quit trashing her about stuff that are rumors you've only heard about. Don't jump to conclusions! And don't act like you know it all, cause you don't! You don't know what she goes through as a celebrity. She is hounded everyday by poparazzi! It's so bad that she can't even walk down the street without being surrounded by people with cameras. She can't even come out of her own house! She's trapped in her own home! And when she does go outside she's forced into the spotlight even when she doesn't want to be! So back off and leave her alone!!! She's a lot smarter than you think!

I have been a nurse for 20 years and let me say that people need to check out side effects of all medications and drugs. Physicians are quick to hand out medications with the intent of patients taking them for short periods and as prescribed. Unfortuneately they forget to pass out the side effects with the medication. Pain killers and Antidepressants are ruining our world. People just don't know what damage they cause in people who abuse them. In my twenty years of working in the medical field I have found out that less is better for all patients. Oh, and by the way my Mother died from liver cancer from too many medications through life. Know your drugs and what they can lead to, such as addiction and liver cancer. WE are the best Doctors we know by being informed and educated on what we are prescribed. God bless our world and open our eyes. Only God and love matter in the end. He is the best therapist and Physician. Indiana Nurse

C''mon, Vicodin for menstrual cramps. I am no misogynist, but to suggest that a physician recommended the use of an extremely strong, narcotic pain killer for menstrual cramps, for someone who was once addicted to heroin is one of the stupidest stories I have ever heard.
One other thing. When you have an eating disorder and appear reminiscent of the imprisoned victims of a concentration camp, it is hard to believe that this walking stick menstruates very regulary.
ANother hollywood crazy.
