The park is being built at Lee's southern Chinese ancestral home of Shunde and will include a host of attractions based on the actor-and-fighter's life.
There will be a statue of Lee, a memorial hall, a martial arts academy and a conference centre.
According to Hong Kong's Apple Daily newspaper, the project will be open to the public in around three years and will cost around $25.5 million.
The foundations of the park were laid on Sunday (26.11.06) and the first stage of the building process was witnessed by Lee's younger brother Robert Lee and the actress Betty Ting Pei - who donated a set of nunchucks once used by her close friend Lee to the park.
Bruce Lee died aged just 32 of an edema, swelling of the brain, in 1973.
However, a number of conspiracy theories surround his untimely death including the unfounded rumour that he was murdered by the Triads, an organised crime gang, for not paying them protection money.
His iconic films include 'Enter The Dragon', 'Big Boss' and 'Fist of Fury'.
