Nicole looking great, manages to make PETA list?
Nov 29, 2006, 8:00 GMT
Nicole Richie has been voted the world's worst-dressed celebrity.
'The Simple Life' star was given the dubious honour by animal rights group PETA because of her love of fur.
The activists said: "This pelt-wearing party girl is all animal skin and bones. She's an incredible shrinking woman with the heart to match."
'Desperate Housewives' actress Eva Longoria also made the list, with PETA fuming: "You'd think she'd be more sympathetic to the plight of rabbits considering the way she screws around like one on Wisteria Lane."
Ashley Olsen, 20, was the runner-up on the annual list.
PETA said of the thin actress: "Wearing fur does add 20 pounds, but if Ashley wants to fill out her frame, we suggest using a fork instead."
Last year's winner, Nicole's close friend Paris Hilton, failed to make the list since she vowed never to wear fur again after watching a shocking video detailing how animals are killed for their pelts.
PETA are now considering asking the hotel heiress to become one of their "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" models.

Ok so i get what PETA is saying and its all true...but they still go a little overboard here. You have to be balanced. I think they are a little extreme in their views. Animals die for us to live...for food and clothing....its happened in the past, in the present, and in the future...get over it.
Chica--- You are exactly the type of igornant individual that perpetuates the myth that these animals need to die 'for us to live'-- If you have any type of heart or conscience whatsoever, try sitting down for simply 5 minutes and watch one of the videos showing animals being slaughtered for their pelts--- I have not worn fur for about 25 years and will NEVER wear it again and I live a perfectly healthy and full life-- NO FUR NEEDED TO KEEP THIS GIRL ALIVE!
you guys suck
All of you freakish animal rights activist need to get a life. There are so many other things wrong with this world, and you consumed by an act that has been going on since humans were first able to kill an animal and use its fir to keep there new born alive in the freezing cold. WORRY ABOUT YOURSELVES!! Next you will be petitioning the courts in Massachusets if you can marry animals. Really people take alook at your own life, and problems before you judge everybody elses.
Thank you PETA. It sickens me that people will wear slaughtered animal fur on their bodies....can you imagine if there were a more intelligent being than ourselves that liked to slaughter US and wear our skin around because it's 'fashionable??' Revolting. It's a murdered animal draped over your shoulders....how sexy.
I don't think that just because there are other horrible things going on in the world that it makes this problem any less horrible.
Killing animals for food as long as it's not in an exccesive wasteful amount, sure I guess I could see that.
But it is not necessary to kill for pelts. It is only for fashion and it's ridiculous.
I mean I'm sure after a long hard day lounging around being worshipped, counting money and pouting in front of cameras. Celebrities might bet a little chill.
But I don't see how ripping the flesh off of defenseless animals is the only alternative. Wear some cotton jackets you fashion freaks.
It's not needed this day in age, or justifiable at all to kill for fashion.
I have never been one for killing an animal for it's fur, and don't think that is should be done. Back in the day it was necessary to kill to live, meat for food, the fur for clothing or bedding, and bones were used for jewelery and utensils. Now we have other means of keeping warm. Humans by nature are indeed Omnivores. You are not going to change all. I don't believe in cruelty to animals and will not buy products that are animal tested. However, I do eat meat, even own a few pair of leather shoes. I think instead of judging others, you should take a long look at yourselves before opening your mouth. If you think about it, how many PETA members are out there saving homeless pets from being euthanized, or how many even own a pet? I donate money every month to local charities who work on saving homeless pets even if it just saves one critter. Nobody is perfect, not even PETA members.
I understand where Peta is coming from, but I don't respect their approach. There are smarter ways to make a point and take a stand against something besides childish remarks such as saying that Ashley Olsen should use a fork to add 20 pounds, or wondering how many other pelts would be needed to cover Christina Ricci's forehead. Such low-blows are petty and negate any positive effect they wish to achieve by publishing these lists in the first place. Peta should back it up with facts, like how often these people have been seen in fur or how much they own, rather than snide, immature jibes.
i would hope that all of you who are in support of peta's message, the fact that cruelty to animals is inhumane, would not let your passion for the message cloud you to peta's hypocrisy; it is brutally and flagrantly ihumane for them to exploit a serious and possibly fatal health condition, which any eating disorder and the resulting physical detriments are.
