John Mayer's squatter trouble

John Mayer was distraught to discover a stranger had been living in his home and annoying his neighbors while he was away on tour.

The singer - who is reportedly dating 'Dukes of Hazards' actress Jessica Simpson again - returned from a three-month tour and was shocked to discover an angry note written on behalf of his neighbors waiting for him at his rented Los Angeles apartment.

John managed to see the funny side and posted the bizarre note in his personal blog on his website www.johnmayer.com.

He wrote: "I get lots of interesting messages and comments from fans, but this one is extra special. In documents obtained by my mailbox, it is revealed that someone has been living in my house for the last three months while I've been on tour, been especially crotchety about parking, and enjoys smoking copious amounts of marijuana. Note the love/hate/love method of persuasive writing. It gets better every time I read it."

The letter signed by Wilford Brimley is dated November 8 and begins by praising the singer's "great music" and "superb lyrics".

Wilford then changes tact and writes: "The other reason I am writing to you is because I am friends with one of your neighbors. It would be really great if you could stop yelling at him for where he parks his car, etc.

"Also I am relaying the message just for your own information that sometimes odd smells come from your home - odd smells that seem to come from illegal substances.
