Nelly Furtado says taking acting classes gave her the courage to rap on her new album.
The 27-year-old 'Promiscuous' singer revealed the drama lessons "changed her life" and made her more confident in her abilities.
She told Britain's Hello magazine: "It taught me how to let go of my ego. "Everybody in their twenties is very self-consumed, afraid of making mistakes and of what people will think.
"After I started taking acting classes, I realised that it was okay not to be the best at something. You just have to work at it and try to get better.
"That's what gave me the guts to try rapping on 'Loose'. I said, 'Okay, I talk about rapping all the time but why don't I do it on my own.'"

I am glad she took some acting classes because her rapping sound ridiculous- same as Fergie the Dutchess rapping. Same cliche, different album. Whoa- Nelly- ain't if fun to watch you sell out?
