Pop role model Jamelia
Nov 20, 2006, 13:50 GMT
Jamelia wants to be an inspiration to young pop hopefuls.
The 'Superstar' singer says her goal in life is to help other wannabe singers and musicians achieve their dream.
She told Cosmopolitan magazine: "In 10 years' time I want to know I've inspired the next Jamelia, the next girl who's made something great despite obstacles in her life. I'm really proud I can make a difference, especially to young women. I want to be an inspiration."
The singer also says she found writing her hit 'Thank You' - which focuses on the domestic violence she suffered at the hands of her ex-boyfriend - therapeutic.
She said: "I wrote it for selfish reasons. It was extremely therapeutic. The fact that so many people related to it actually upset me because it meant so many others had been in the same situation."
