Bono gets nicked hat back
Nov 16, 2006, 12:10 GMT

Bono has won a court battle to reclaim a cowboy hat from his former stylist.
Lola Cashman - who worked with the U2 frontman during the band's 'Joshua Tree' tour in the 80s - claimed Bono had given her the Stetson hat, some earrings, a sweatshirt and trademark black trousers as gifts 19 years ago.
She claimed the rocker "plonked" the hat on her head, as he was running around in his underwear backstage at a concert in Arizona in 1987.
Cashman put some of the memorabilia up for auction in 2002, but lawyers, representing U2 asked for all the items to be returned.
After a lengthy deliberation, the court ruled that "on the balance of probabilities" the items were probably not given to Cashman in the first place.
U2 issued a statement last night (15.11.06) saying they were "relieved this matter had now concluded".
The band also stressed they would not be actively pursuing compensation on "substantial legal costs" owed by Cashman.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while. Why would they spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on this lawsuit? What's so special about this hat? Besides, if someone gives you something for 20 years, it's yours.
Bono is an idiot.

What else is going on? There's more to this than just a hat. Bono can buy all the hats he wants. So what is the 'real' story???
