Rod and friends enter UK Music Hall of Fame

A host of music legends including Rod Stewart, Prince and Bon Jovi were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame last night (14.11.06).

The ceremony - held at London's Alexandra Palace - also honoured James Brown, Dusty Springfield and The Beatles' former producer and composer Sir George Martin.

Martin - who is often referred to as 'the fifth Beatle' - dedicated his award to the "greatest people" he had worked with throughout his four decade career.

He said: "I never realised I was as good as all that. I think the reason I am here today is that I have been a very lucky man and I have worked with the greatest people in showbusiness, performers and writers."

Martin was honoured by a host of his musical peers, including Corinne Bailey Rae and Queen drummer Roger Taylor, who performed some of The Beatles' classic hits along with an orchestra and a gospel choir.

Led Zeppelin and Brian Wilson completed the list of the stars joining the Hall of Fame, which already includes artists like The Rolling Stones, Madonna and Bob Dylan.

The Hall of Fame was first established in 2004 and the winners are chosen by a 60-strong panel of performers, record industry executives, broadcasters and journalists.
