Dave Stewart thanks Annie Lennox

Dave Stewart says Annie Lennox saved his life.

The 54-year-old singer formed acclaimed 80s pop band Eurythmics with Annie after they fell in love, and he has attributed their romance to helping him quit drugs.He said: "My passion for film dimmed along with pretty much everything else in my life when I was doing drugs. But then I met Annie in 1976 and we fell in love and started The Tourists and then Eurythmics. Annie pretty much saved me from drugs."David got his first record contract aged just 18, after running away from home at 17 years old, but admitted he blew all the cash on illegal highs.He added: "It was complete overload. I bought a pound of Moroccan hash and 1,000 capsules of mescaline, which is a bit like LSD. From 18 to 24 I was in a drug haze."(C) BANG Media International
