Madonna's father visit with baby
Nov 7, 2006, 12:00 GMT
Madonna is taking her new son to visit her father - who is battling cancer.
The singer is preparing to take 13-month-old David to see dad Tony Ciccone at the Leelanau County Hospital, in Michigan
A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Madonna is keen to introduce David to his granddad - although the circumstances are less than ideal. At the moment the prognosis from the doctors is as good as can be expected.
"It's a shame that the family are going through this secret sadness when it should have been a joyful time with the new baby."
Tony has been diagnosed with colon cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
Madonna has decided to take her three children - David, Rocco and Lourdes - to see Tony while he is still in good health.
The 48-year-old star has endured a troubled relationship with her father since he remarried after her mother died when Madonna was five.
Madonna upset devout Catholic Tony with her overtly sexual persona during the 80s and 90s. The pair were reunited when Madonna eventually settled down and married British film director Guy Ritchie.
During her 2004 'Re-Invention' tour they became closer than they had been in years.
Meanwhile, Madonna has claimed the average person doesn't care that she has adopted a Malawian baby.
The 'Hung Up' singer blames the UK media for the furore over the adoption and has accused them of being racist.
Madonna told Time magazine: "There's a lot of Brits - reporters on the street - who've said, 'Why don't you adopt a kid from Britain?' or, 'Why did you adopt a black child?'
"But when you throw in things like I'm a celebrity and I somehow got special treatment, or make the implication of kidnapping, it gets mixed into a stew, and it sells lots of papers.
"What they should care about is that there are over a million orphans in Malawi."

I understand that there are millions of orphans throughout forgien countries, but what about the millions of orphans right here at home. I dont care how many children any celebrity adopts, but why do they feel the need to go else where? Whats wrong with the children in your own country?! Are our celebraties not Americans - Living and thriving in America?! Everyone with milions of dollars and millions of fans seem to give more to other countries rather than right here at home.
I hope Madonna and others adopt many orphans - I would however like to see more American adoptions. Whether, local or forgien, nobody has the right to criticize anyone for adopting a child needing a home.
