Madonna claims the average person doesn't care that she has adopted a Malawi baby.
The 48-year-old singer has blamed the media for the furore over her adoption of 13-month-old David and accused the UK media of nationalism and racism.
Madonna told Time magazine: "There's a lot of Brits - reporters on the street - who've said, 'Why don't you adopt a kid from Britain?' Or, 'Why did you adopt a black child?'
"But when you throw in things like I'm a celebrity and I somehow got special treatment, or make the implication of kidnapping, it gets mixed into a stew, and it sells lots of papers.
"What they should care about is that there are over a million orphans in Malawi." Baby David, however, was not an orphan.
Last week, Madonna - who is married to British film director Guy Ritchie - described the first time her two children, Rocco and Lourdes, met their new brother.
She said: "He arrived at seven o'clock in the morning and the children were getting ready for school. We were all in the kitchen and the door opened, it was just really quiet and my nanny walked in carrying David and the children just ran to him. Lola grabbed him and held him and it was just this strange quiet moment. It was amazing."

She doesn't care about orphans from Africa. What she cares about is selling her books!!! These people are always about money but like to put a show and pretend to be Mother Theresa. If she really cared, then she could've opened an orphanage in Malawi with 1000 kids. It only takes 6 dollars to care for a kid for a month. Madonna can't afford $10,000 a month??? Supposedly, she spent $4,000 dollars trying to get a certain type of tea from New York while she was in London. Her manicure, peticure budget is $7,000 a month. She is a fake! She should be banned from adopting!!!!!
There are 40 million Americans living in poverty. Over 6 million are living in Ghettos and only having 1 meal a day. Madonna couldn't adopt one of them???!!!!
Leave her alone, she cant save everyone, thats all of our responsibility not just hers. She has saved one boy which is fantastic. All those of you who say she should adopt from the Ghetto or from here or there, well i say to those people put your money where your mouth is and do something about it yourself. Why is Madonna responsible for all the orphans on the planet? Get real.
Every single child who needs help, no matter the country they are from, is worthy. What is the difference in the nationality? Are children from certain countries more worthy? If the baby was white, would it be more worthy then?
Despite the media outcry, Madonna has done more for this country and the children there than most who speak about her negatively have ever done. Any help is still help, no matter who offers it.
Principles are for people who aren't hungry.

Madonna is responsible for snatching David from another woman, a truly decent woman for all we know, who had been waiting to adopt David, but didn't have millions of dollars to close the deal.
Madonna is responsible for promising David's father that she would raise the boy a Christian, when she intended to raise him a Kabbalist.
Madonna is responsible for telling David's father she was a respectable Christian woman, without telling him that she regularly insults Christianity onstage for money.
Madonna is responsible for further corrupting an already corrupt Malawian government.
Madonna is responsible for helping to distort western culture so much that pea-brains like Jon think women who take photos of themselves having sex with other women and dogs are perfect candidates for adopting babies.
Madonna is responsible for using a living human being as a weapon in her personal fashion war with Angelina Jolie.
Modonna is at least responsible for the 1000's of Malawian orphans she could have helped to place in homes in their own country with the money she used to BUY one.
Actually Brock, Madonna gave thousands of dollars to the orphans she left behind at that adoption agency. So I guess she agrees with you in that she feels a personal responsibility towards them.
And who was the woman who wanted David? I hadn't heard that.

Madonna, setting an example by giving a life to a child, If can't do do that shut your mouths and at least appreciate her.
I'm sorry, when you take your kid and throw him in an orphanage, he's an orphan whether the technical term applies or not. This would not have happened to a black celebrity and probably would not have happened if the kid were Asian. In fact, it's fashionable here in America to adopt Asian kids. That's probably more of what the hub-bub is all about more than anything. I guess they feel white women have no business adopting non-Asian kids!

I had to laugh when I read ur very ridiculous & typical comments, you obviously read & believe everything in the tabloids & cant think for urself!
what u said is untrue & just gossip, but you did spell Madonna's name right, i give u that.
Even if she has done certain things in her career that u dont like, her intentions here are good and being a good mother has nothing to do to with all that rubbish u just mentioned. Remember David's father is happy with the adoption, does that not count for anything. And Kabbalah is not a religion, christian beliefs & kabbalah have similarities. Madonna does not bash christianity, her anger is more to do with her catholic upbringing.
It seems you have a lot of anger towards Madge, do I detect some jealousy perhaps..I think so.

How can Madonna corrupt Malawi & if u saw her concert she wasnt criticising christianity didnt u see the words from the bible around the cross, she was trying to highlight the millions dying in Africa. And when is it a crime to be sexual, if Madge was a bloke no one would question her at all. She is being attacked because she is a woman and how dare a woman be smart, sexual, motherly, controversial, political. Madonna hasnt committed any crime so let her be. Children are dying of Aids & whether u like it or not Madonna has put her money where her mouth is & is actively doing something. Ur remarks are pathetic & foolish.
