That doesn't make him wrong, Moby.
Celebrities...they are just like you think they are.
You should have kept you typing to yourself. It does make him wrong because there was no faking and every statement Rush made about Fox, including accusations of not taking his meds and only supporting Dems., were all false. These are things said by a man going on a euphoric rant without actually htinking aobut what he is saying or even researching it for that matter. The whole point of this is that a person has a right to their opinion, but one also has the responsibility to make sure that opinion checks out with the facts surrounding that opinion. Otherwise your opinion is ignorant and your mouth is shooting blanks.
and one more note. Any other radio host showing that amount of poor taste would be fired. He will not be. Why? Because he's a celebrity.
yeah Fox gave up a career as an actor to fake parkinsons so Dems could get stem cell research votes
I think Rush owns his own syndication... he's not going to fire himself. Stations can drop him if they want, want to lose money. Get over the accusations and get to the real facts: The bill would make it constitutionally protected to clone people.
Oh, and conservitives don't have a problem with stem-cell research, only FEDERAL GRANTS to fetus stem-cell research.
Hippies.
Limbaugh's legacy will be dismal. He will be known as a hollow..hapless..husk of a human.
Moby needs to rethink his viotle caustic comments towards ALL Republicans. I am a bleeding heart Republican, only that due to being a moral conservative albeit not as much fiscal. The views of Rush do not always represent the LOT of us. Thank you.
And it was real mature for the author to point out the addition Rush had. So realative to the story. I'm thinking Moby may have had some stronger stuff than pain-killers...
I really liked Moby's music too. Glad I haven't bought any of his CDs though.
Hippies.
duchesszone, there are no moral conservatives anymore, just ones who at this point are WILFULLY ignorant about the twisted, corrupt, lying, and sick nature of conservatism.
Fox was in fact faking since he did infact admit to katie kurac on cbs morning show that he had in fact over medicated himself that day. In fact on many occasions he has done so to make the symptoms much worse than what they are on a normal medication day!! How is it he was able to controll himself so well in his boston legal performance!! It is in fact faking if you choose to take to much medication to change your symptons!!
How can you claim to be a moral conservative when such amoral creatures as Rush mouth off and you do nothing? If Republicans were really moral, they would be upset over Rush. Instead we hear over and over how moral the Republicans are, while they shelter people like Rush, Falwell, Corker, etc. I guess the New Morality of Republlicanism is the morality of the brainless following the rantings and fear-mongering of the Republican leadership.
Fox is trying to turn sympathy for his plight into votes for Democrats. Most people, including Republicans, would like to see medical science advance and cure diseases such as Parkinsons. It is immoral and evil to suggest otherwise. It is wrong to state that only Democrats are interested in helping people, only Democrats care about finding a cure. The truth is we must be cautious with what we sacrifice to achieve those advances. Rush illustrated a valid concern with the Fox ad. He was not demeaning those who suffer from Parkisons or any other disease. He was exposing a subtle manipulation designed to attract votes. That is what that ad was about. It was not about research or cures. It was about votes.
Not to mention the ad is simply not true!! Democrat Claire McCaskell voted against embryonic stem-cell research, while R-Mo Jim Talent voted for it.. Sorry mike you have been used and lied to by the dems.
Votes - that's exactly right. Votes for people who support stem cell research so that a variety of illnesses - including, not coincidentally, the one that Fox has - might one day be cured. It's like saying that an advertisement featuring starving African children and requesting donations for an organization that assists them is manipulating people into donating money. If by 'manipulation' one means that they attempt to get people to solve the problem they display, well, brilliant. Thanks for the insight Rush, you cynical tool.
Can you imagine that anyone has taken seriously the rantings of a man called Moby? That's what Andrew Dice Clay named his pecker. Moby.
At any rate, according to the political left, there is no such thing as a 'former' addict of anything; so I sense a bit of intolerance here.
Second, I too thought MF might have purposely been off his medicine for the commercial, for the purpose of eliciting either drama or sympathy. There is a passage in his book about him doing exactly that, for public testimony and the sort.
Third, almost everybody has missed MF's unstated message 'Kill the fetuses, so that I may live!'
Fourth, did you see the YouTube parody of MF? He's got his pill bottle in his hand, and he's trying to take the pills as he speaks, but because of his flailing about, he can't get them in his mouth. They're flying all over the place. It IS funny. Sometimes we cope with tragedy by using comedy.
Last, re: all right wing Republicans are evil, that is just so stupid, even for the inner city. What about the old saw that 'all black people like watermelon and chicken?' Isn't this statement in that exact vein?
In fact, I always thought that Democrats, who want to confiscate (i.e., steal) wealth and spend it on things like studying the farting of cows, who call people names, and feign to know people's motivations, I thought they were the ones who are evil. Not all of them, just the money-confiscating, name-calling, mind-reading ones.
Do you think that more people would be offended by this view or less? I know the answer - Mo' be.
If Republicans want a cure, why make it next to impossible to do stem cell research? Federal funding is important because the research is so expensive. The Fed subsidized the transcontinental RR over 100 years ago, because it was too expensive for private companies to do it alone. The Fed has spent a lot of money over the years for the public interest. As for Rush having a valid point about Fox--What? ONLY people without diseases can support candidates who promise to release federal funding to help find a cure? Do people with diseases lose their right to speak up? IF Fox had been a teacher, computer programmer, etc--anything BUT an actor--would Rush have made the same accusation?
Maybe Rush Managed to buy Michael's medication on the Black Market,That is why he is certain that Michael had not taken his Medication;
'Can you imagine that anyone has taken seriously the rantings of a man called Moby? That's what Andrew Dice Clay named his pecker. Moby.'---I suppose the words 'Call me Ishmael' mean nothing to you....
'At any rate, according to the political left, there is no such thing as a 'former' addict of anything; so I sense a bit of intolerance here.'---What in the heck are you talking about? That's just nonsense. There is no 'Left' that has some kind of mass opinion on matters like that because unlike the right, we think for ourselves.
'Second, I too thought MF might have purposely been off his medicine for the commercial, for the purpose of eliciting either drama or sympathy. There is a passage in his book about him doing exactly that, for public testimony and the sort.' ---Well what else would you expect from a republican (since he recently campaigned for Arlen Specter).
'Third, almost everybody has missed MF's unstated message 'Kill the fetuses, so that I may live!''---Nonsense, Stem Cells have nothing to do with fetuses in this context. It's a fact, look it up, and not in an Ann Coulter book.
'Fourth, did you see the YouTube parody of MF? He's got his pill bottle in his hand, and he's trying to take the pills as he speaks, but because of his flailing about, he can't get them in his mouth. They're flying all over the place. It IS funny. Sometimes we cope with tragedy by using comedy.'---Coping is different than defaming somebody for partisan purposes.
'Last, re: all right wing Republicans are evil, that is just so stupid, even for the inner city. What about the old saw that 'all black people like watermelon and chicken?' Isn't this statement in that exact vein?'---Show me a Republican who isn't trying to weasle out of the fact that they are torturers who are selling the country to the red chinese, and who have killed more babies by neglect and wars of choice than abortion ever could, and we'll reconsider.
'In fact, I always thought that Democrats, who want to confiscate (i.e., steal) wealth and spend it on things like studying the farting of cows, who call people names, and feign to know people's motivations, I thought they were the ones who are evil. Not all of them, just the money-confiscating, name-calling, mind-reading ones.'---It's a fact that cows fart. It's also a fact that methane is a central greenhouse gas. Therefore studying how to reduce the methane from cows could allow you to pretend global warming doesn't even exist for a while longer while you go farting around in your SUVs.
'Do you think that more people would be offended by this view or less? I know the answer - Mo' be.'---Again... Watchyou talkin' 'bout.
Bud you are as ignorant as Rush ... get informed
Fox takes medication to provide relief from tremors, rigidity, bradykinesia, and loss of balance
'Unfortunately, with increased dosing and prolonged use of levodopa, patients experience other side-effects including dyskinesias (spontaneous, involuntary movements) and 'on-off' periods when the medication will suddenly and unpredictably start or stop working.'
In other words if does not take medication he is mute and stiff like a zombie. If he takes the medication he has the moves of a cerebral palsy sufferer.
Embryonic stem cell research is not the only avenue for a cure. We are currently pursuing adult stem cell research which has the same promise without the moral implications. There are also a variety of other lines of study including research into neurotrophic factors which can revive dormant brain cells (see Fox’s web site). Embryonic stem cells have become a political tool rather than a scientific approach. We are and will continue to study them, but with care and respect for the moral issues. In regards to the Fox ad, he certainly has the right to say whatever he wants. However, there is absolutely no scientific evidence that embryonic stem cells will produce a cure, or be any different than studies of adult stem cells. It is simply easier to get them because they can be harvested from an aborted fetus without concern for preserving the life. In that regard, Fox is misrepresenting the truth and Rush has the same right to point it out.
Please stop calling Rush Limbaugh a 'conservative' talk show host. Barry Goldwater was a conservative. Limbaugh is a fascist.
Rush and no one else has a right to mock and defame Fox. And make no mistake they are doing it because of politics which they have to do, because their politics are about as appealling as vomit. So unless they bully everyone into voting for them with ridiculous bogeyman stories, and out of opposing them by going for their testes with a flamethrower at the first peep, no one would ever vote for them. Or listen to their garbage on the radio. Republicans are bullies or toadies, nothing more or less.
Just for the record, Rush does have the right to say anything he wants under law and that should not change. However he has no right to be tolerated by decent people.
...But conservatives have lost their good name rightfully. By going along with this garbage in exchange for a few shekels in tax cuts. Of course most of them can't do the math to realize that the states and local districts have mostly increased taxes to offset the loss of federal funding, which is inefficient and thus results in higher taxation over all. The average American now pays more than half of his money to taxes for the first time in history, under Bush, and in large part because of Bush's tax cuts. Ironic, isn't it? All for a few shekels you don't even get to spend...
Where does the opposition to this stem cell legislation like 'Bobdole' get the authority to claim that this bill would 'auhtorize cloning' ?
The bill explicitly states '(1) No person may clone or attempt to clone a human being.'
It seems to me like just more Republican lying to further their agenda at any cost - even the truth. It's very sad what's happened to that party...
Hippie? Is that the best you can come up with? A reference to a social movement from 40 years ago? If we are to take a look at the neo-con philosophy you so highly value... you would see that it consists of Democrats, during the Vietnam war who believed in the social role of government, but also believed in the foreign projection of power. So... it was from the so called 'hippie' movement that the neo-cons were born.
I really really do hate how people seem to go through life spouting uninformed comments based upon minimal intellectual pursuits of truth. They live their life based upon bumper-sticker slogans and rhetoric and believe themselves to be patriotic Americans.
They have absolutely no idea of the true concepts behind the checks and balances inherient within our form of goverment. The purpose of the media to be our window into the workings of our government... not the cheerleaders of the current administration.
And... you want to know what lets me sleep better at night? The idiotic Republicans that believe that they have truely take over this country do not realize that party power ebbs and flows... so each and every power they steal for Bush will eventually be in the hands of a Democratic president.
You Repubs want to know irony? Close your eyes and imagine President Hillary Clinton with the power! Hehehehehehehehe. God you people are so stupid it defies belief. We don't have a math and science crisis in this nation... we have a logic and civics crisis.
Concerning Fox faking it or not:
I have a friend with Parkinson's. She has has her goods days, when it isn't very noticable, and her bad days, when her movements are not totally hers. Just like the MJF ad.
Limbaugh is just such a sorry, ignorant, arrogant excuse for a human being.
How come conservatives can't spell?
Yep... the bill says that '(1) No person may clone or attempt to clone a human being.', but then defines cloning to involve a uterus... if you multiply those cells in anything other than a uterus, it's not really cloning! So if I make my 'mini-me' in a peanutbutter jar, I will get federal grants, without anyone who could vote against it, and a cool little version of me (which would be great to have around at parties).
If you call a limited gov/fiscal responsible/laissez-faire kinda guy like me a neo-con, it's cool with me (I love that 'Matrix' movie that it always makes me think of). You're still a tree-huggin hippie who bathes like a french woman and wants everyone else to pay for your fetus-killin agenda (do it with your own money).
I don't like to spell check my posts either, but I did this one just for you: keyboard prep Ferdinand.
Conservatives would have us believe that stem cell research takes human life.
Can you believe it?
According to Conservatives a single cell in a petri dish is a human being the same as you.
Is there any more that needs to be said about the moral values of conservatives?
what happened to their gods...It's funny how actors and atheltes..brag about how god this and god that..and its god who gave me this and that...well..god gave you parkinsons...deal with it...it god wanted you to stick needles in the stem cells of embryo's..he would have made the process of birth automatic with a syringe growing down the neck....so whats next...because I'm an famous actor or athelete...if drawing the fluid out of they eye of a week old fetus will cure me...then make it legal.....hypocrites and morons...take your ads to your God and quit being selfish and above the human race.
The people who say Fox was faking know very little about Parkinson disease. Ask any neurologist who treats this disorder and they will tell you it is extremely difficult to control the symptoms that Fox has.
I do not blame the Republican Administration for the plight of the nation and the world. They are, and continue to be, just what anyone with a modicum of intelligence, AND THE WILL TO USE IT, could, and should, have expected. So yes, this is a democracy, and the fault lies with the American people. We are swirling down a sewer of our own willfully ignorant devise. Well, the devise of 50 plus 2 percent us. If we vote out the incompetent arrogant mean-spirited men we have been putting in for the last 6 years we still have to live with the fact that over half of us did, in fact, and in the face of facts, put them there. So, no, I do not really feel like bridging the polarization. My children now have to pay for what others have done to them.
You guys need to get the facts. Maybe listen a little less the left wing media that tells you what to think. Stem cells from embryos have never cured a single disease and no 'real' scientist are even working in this area. Adult stem cells are a different story. This whole subject has more to do with pro-abortion types wanting a good excuse to kill little kids before they are born.
The Democrats are masters at using people with diseases or circumstances to lie. They think that buy putting Fox in a commercial, no will say that he is not the truth because he's sick. If you put yourself in the political arena and lie, you should be taken to task!
And SOME politicians tolerate child molesters as their peers, use Gods' name
to manipulate for personal gain. Need I go on?
I am never disapointed to find people who are not scientists quoting what they believe are scientific facts, usually just passing on garbage they heard from conservative radio--'some scientists' but cannot name them or their association. (I think neocons are the real villians--true conservatives should not be included in this madness and ignorance. Fascist may be the correct term; I've looked it up and many key descriptors fit.) A 'fetus' is not going to be involved in 'embroyonic' stem cell research as has been repeated by some here. Such 'embryos are going to be discarded anyway. How is tossing them away respect for life? Isn't using the brains God gave us to solve problems showing respect for life? As in abortion: How is forcing a woman to keep a child she does not want, which she may abuse and neglect, show respect for life? I don't understand the disconnect. Isn't that like telling me that every month I ovulate and don't create a child, I'm a murderer?
. . . . whoever listens to this 'genius', - should get a life anyway !
I hope Rush gets Parkinson's---and watches his life and mobility slowly slip away from him so that he can endure what it's like to have the disease. I have no sympathy for a fool---a simple, fat, idiot of a fool....
It's great that right-wing kooks like Bub expose themselves and their corrupt ideologies by spewing it here in public.
Every time a Republican opens their whining mouth and vomits their hatred on everything America represents...a new Democrat is created somewhere.
Keep up the good work, Bub...you're the best thing that could happen to the Democratic Party and the REAL Americans...that vast majority out there that hate everything you stand for.
Sprintracer4... you use a cliche that proves nothing and is totally meaningless. And yes... Rush is beyond wrong, he's an embarrassment to any education soul.
I was suprised to see that Rush was still around. This must have been one of the biggest boosts to his career since his 'get out of jail free' drug bust.
A Call for Clarity and Civil Dialog.
It is the militants like Rush(on the right)and Michael Moore(on the left) that have both disgraced and polarized our nation. I encourage both liberals and conservatives to set a higher standard and refrain from giving audience to these modern day Rasputins. Their tactics are couterproductive and tasteless.
May dignity, honor, respect, and tolerance never take a back seat to the passions of our agendas.
Spankee the Yankee.
Wow, Moby is a total mental midget! '[R]epublican conservatives...[are the]...true evil in the world'? HA HA HA...Gimme a break, Moby, you idiot! I'm a conservative, and a newly registered Repub., and there is no one that has ever met me in my life that thinks I'm anything but a sweet girl. Spare me the hyperbolic melodrama, please, sir. It's embarrassing for you. Also, notice how he said 'if ' there is evil in the world? If there is evil? You've got to be kidding. Any one that doesn't live their life with their head permanently up their you-know-what knows that the world is full of evil by the age of eight. Hello? We are in a war for our lives against the forces of evil, dipsh**! 9/11, anyone? Sheesh! Yes, Moby, little one, there are evil, mean people in the world, but I know that I sure as heck am not one of them. Seriously, you give my capabilities way too much weight if you liken me to a terrorist, for crying out loud. I wouldn't hurt a fly, dear.
If there is money to be had at the expense of hurting others you can bet a white man will be first in line with all the 'answers'
Rush Limbaugh is the epitome of the lamer right wingnut. However, it always puts me on alert when ANYBODY uses the term 'evil' to describe a person, place or thing... The only time the use of the word evil is appropriately used is when it is used to describe a someone who goes around calling everything that doesn't fit into his or her idea of morality, evil.
Not one of you knows what you're talking about. Rush was not 'making fun' of Fox. He was describing to his 'viewers' (it's a radio show with a webcam feed) what he saw in the Fox ad, and he was telling his listeners how surprised he was by the severity of Fox's disease, because he (Rush) is a big fan of 'Boston Legal' and had never seen Fox display any symptoms at all. There was absolutely no laughing accompanying it, and there was no poking fun. The media created the story because of their hate for Rush, and you all are very eager to believe the story for the same reason. Any of you can find out for yourselves by going to Rush's website... he archives all of his shows. Educate yourselves.
I always love the right wing conservatives and their logic. For example, it's ok to kill living , breathing, talking Iraqi kids (sorry not kids, collateral damage) but frozen embryos slated for destruction anyway, can't be touched. But of course, sacrificing embryos to save lives and cure people is bad, casuing collateral damage for the sake of democracy is ok....
Are you people nuts? Rush Limbaugh could quite possibly be the biggest hypocrite on this planet. He faked an illness in order to get prescription drugs. Fox at least has an illness.
Compassionate conservatives unite! What we are saying is that
people with serious illness need to stop trying sell... whatever they
are selling. The point is not that M.J. Fox has a serious illness which
requires research that could help millions of people with debilitating
diseases. Who cares if India or Germany or France(ick) or some other hippie country creates jobs for medical research, cures the sick, stimulates the economy,
etc.
Back to the point. If you have some disease stop trying to fake us by
making it seem worse than it really is.
As for this video and the discomfort in his eyes...well that is an old Hollywood trick.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6648962601318172075&q=parkinso n%27s&hl=en
1)I didn't see Rush attacking Fox, when MJF filmed a similar ad for Republican Arlen Spector. Spector supports Stem Cell Research and 2 years ago, Fox filmed the same type of ad for him.
2)MJF did admit that his medication was off during the filming, BUT he also said that finding hte proper dosage is extremely difficult. It's a constant battle to stay balanced where the cure isn't worse than the disease.
3)I defend Rush's right to say the ignorant, prejudiced, mean spirited things he said. Just as I defend my right to never listen to a word he says.
Bob Dole's got issues, and horrible facts. It really makes for entertaining reading. Republican or Democrat I hope you get the facts right before going to the voting booth. Personally I don't think celebrities should get involved in politics. However who better to get you point across. Rush was just pulling his celebrity card. He's just way to in your face. Oh well one more strike against republicans.
