Madonna says her adopted baby's father has been "manipulated" into saying he never intended to give his son up.

The singer - who is fighting for permanent custody of the one-year-old Malawian orphan - opened her heart during a taped interview with US chat show host Oprah Winfrey on Tuesday (24.10.06) via satellite from London.

One audience member, Brook Carter, revealed: "She's frustrated with the media because she believes it's the pressure of the media that's prompting the father to change his story."

According to onlookers, Madonna appeared composed but occasionally emotional during the interview which is due to air on US TV tonight (25.10.06).

Carter added: "She said of Yohane Banda, David's father, 'He looked at me straight in the eye and said I'm thankful for giving my son a future and a life because if he stayed with me I would have buried him'."

Madonna's comments come after claims David's 32-year-old father Yohane - who had originally welcomed the adoption - told the press: "Nobody told me by 'adoption' it means David will no longer be my son but hers."

Despite those words, he told Time magazine on Tuesday (24.10.06) that he does not

plan to contest the adoption, because that would be "killing David's future".

Madonna already has two biological children - daughter Lourdes, nine, and a six-year-old son Rocco.

There are over 2 million orphans in USA. But Madonna has to fly to Malawi to pick 'one' child. This is a public stunt to sell her children's books. If she really cares then she can have an orphonage in Malawi. It will cost $10,000 a month to care for 2000 orphans in Malawi! Supposedly Madonna spends $4000 dollars on Tea a month, and $7000 for a manicure and peticure! These people are greedy and selfish.

I'm sorry but no one seems to have this issues when Angelina Jolie does this. What is the difference?

the difference is the kids angelina adopted were orphans, this kid isnt. He has a father. The only reason his father doesnt have custody of him is because he is poor and madonna is loaded. Madonna has no shame. Its one thing to take a child out of poverty if it doesnt have a family. But to take a child that does have a parent simply because you can afford to is disgraceful. She should have given the father some money and taken another child who doesnt have anybody.

The other major difference between Madonna & Angelina is Madonna has made a 20 year career off publicity stunts and jumping on the latest trends. Angelina is only a famous acclaimed actress & model. Angie hasn't made a career out of pushing people's buttons and purposely striking up controversary like Madonna. Also, International Childrens Activist groups said Angelina followed the rules. She went through the proper channels....she also adopted her visible minority kids way before it was so ultra cool to do so. So unfortunately for Madonna this looks like one of her usual stunts. But I don't agree. I like both Madonna & Angelina. But I hope Madonna makes sure that her adopted son stays in contact with his Father & his birth country! No matter what -Madonna HAS RESCUED A LIFE - so Kudos Angelina & others, God Bless!
