Keith Urban is in rehab.
The country singer - who is married to 'Moulin Rouge' star Nicole Kidman - checked in for treatment on Thursday night (19.10.06).
Keith - who has a history of drug addiction - said in a statement: "I deeply regret the hurt this has caused Nicole and the ones that love and support me.
"One can never let one's guard down on recovery and I'm afraid that I have."
He added: "With the strength and unwavering support I am blessed to have from my wife, family and friends, I am determined and resolved to a positive outcome."
As a result of the stint in rehab Keith has been forced to cancel a string of appearances to promote his upcoming album as well as a sold-out performance at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut last Friday (20.10.06).
Keith, 38, and Nicole - who met in 2005 - tied the knot in Sydney, Australia, on June 28.
Meanwhile, the singer has been voted the sexiest country music star.
The poll, conducted by US magazine Country Weekly, attracted over 32,000 votes with the singer grabbing the top spot ahead of Renee Zellweger's former spouse Kenny Chesney.
Editor Bill Gubbins said: "The biggest surprise is how rapidly over the last couple of years Keith Urban has shot to the head of the class."

I sometimes wonder who writes these pieces, because you do not do any research, your readers are not stupid or gullible try getting something right, and stop sensationalized.
Look, Keith clearly is back in Rehab because he realises that Nicole isnt the soulmate he has been seeking all this time. He knows this and has returned to drinking. One day he will find his true soulmate.
I'd read in Forbes magazine that Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman signed a pre-nuptual agreement, part of which specified that if Urban were to again use drugs and/or alcohol, his portion of a potential divorce settlement would be severely wiped out. Looks like Mr. Urban blew it in more ways than one, but at least he's man enough to admit he has a problem again. Maybe he's one of the few who doesn't worship money. Good for him.
Nicole sure knows how to pick this deadbeats. Its must be embarrassing for her afterall Tom is getting on with his life and she had to pick a losser for a husband. Its very hard to get over a drug addiction, i dont think she needed this at this time in her life, keith might be a lovely person but he has demons to overcome, she cant help him if he wont help himself. If i were her i will drop him like a bad rash. Everyone deserved to be happy, Nicole, he cant make you happy while he cant make himself happy first. He is selfish and childish, he is a little boy that needs his mum. Am not wicked am just honest, if i were your parent i wont have given my blessing to you marrying a person with a history of drug addiction. Life is too short to waste on people that cant handle real issues. All the money in this world cannot buy you love and happiness, Nicole next time choose carefully, in time to come you will divorce Keith, i bet my life on it. Stop and think next time before you pick up another losser, this will be your 2nd divorce right?? think wisely before your third marriage.
Because someone has a drug or alcohol problem does not make him an idiot, loser or anable to deal with life's problems. Many people with addictions (like Keith Urban) have to function at a very high level, which he clearly has done for quite some time. He must be highly functioning to be able to have created a huge career over a 20 year period. Regardless, he does have issues and kudos to him for not trying to fight it on his own, that path leads to dark places. Trust me, I know. And anyone who is as callous and insensitive as Bettie here, well, all I can say is you are no help to anyone. What you said of Keith can be said of you. Easily. Only ignorant would need to be added to the list describing your attitude towards Keith and other people with this problem (notice I didn't call it a disease). Keith and others like him deserve better than what you have to offer. You seem like the person no one can count on, cut and run, call people names and make them into whatever label you have for them. Shame on you.
I would never want to be a celebrity so that people who have no real idea who I am would feel free to call me such names. Bear in mind that if you think Tom Cruise is getting on with such a wonderful life, that is just the spin you have chosen to believe, not everyone would believe he is doing all that well either. Most everything anyone knows about any celebrity is all fake spin, that is why they hire publicists and agents!!! And remember, 'let he who cast the first stone'...... nobody is without their own problems......
I think people need to stop judging Keith urban on his weaknesses and focus on his strengths...One being his music.. He is so talented and creative.. we all have issues to deal with. his are just out there more because of his popularity and nicoles..she knew exactly the character of the person she married so it should be of no surprise to her that he is troubling.. I have every faith that he can get beyond his addiction and they can both move ahead as husband and wife....good luck keith

Nicole can't drop Keith just yet, otherwise she looks bad; also, she has two kids to protect now, so she has to try to work it through. It must have been a painful decision to go into Rehab with the whole world watching, but I don't believe for one moment she was 'shocked'. I wish him luck with his addictions, because he'll need it!
I don't know why anybody would be surprised that Keith Urban went straight to the top so fast?! It wasn't because of his musical talent, sadly, it was because he married somebody very famous. Keith is one of the best musicians, but this world doesn't give people fame for their own talent, it's who you're with and what/how much you have. I hope that he can come to a complete recovery from his addictions, and Nicole is doing what she should - loving him and supporting him unconditionaly. Besides, nobody is perfect, and we should all wish him the best.
Unless you've loved someone with an addiction, this situation would be hard to understand. That person can still be a loving, caring person and bend to the demon of drugs or alcohol. I think Kieth is a great singer and I wish him all the luck in the world. I have many wonderful memories of listening to his music with my husband who passed away last summer. This makes his music even more important to me.
just another selfish addict has the world at his feet but he goes self indulgant 10 bucks says he'll preach as the role model he isnt on how to stay away from drinking and drugs after his 3 months in captivity
keith urban is just so talented!Keith is almost the only that admit he had a problem.Wish you luck!!!!!
Keith is suce a great singer he is one of the best country singers in the world!nicole is trying to suport him all the way.it doesn't matter if someone has a drug problem or alchol problem it matters whats inside.So don't be so hard on him.He's trying to do better!wish you luck

I'd like to comment on the editors quote saying its 'surprising how Keith Urban has shot to the top of his class so quickly in the last couple of years' You obviously havent been around the industry for long Mr Editor. Keith Urban has been an artist for the whole of his life and I have personally been following his career for more than 20 years! he is a seasoned professional musician/songwriter/performer and has been his whole life - how is that surprising then that at his age of 38 to be making it - strange quote to me i think. Especially with the amount of talent that this guy has. Do your your research before making quotes like that!
