Carrie Fisher truly believes the Republican operative who overdosed in her bed last year remained in her mansion as a ghost.
On February 26, 2005, 42-year-old Republican Party media adviser R. Gregory Stevens was found dead in a guest room at Fisher's home. She stated that he was a longtime friend and often stayed with her.
An autopsy revealed he died from an overdose of cocaine and OxyContin.
The New York Daily News reports that Fisher, 49, who lives next-door to her mother, Debbie Reynolds, says she is now taking only prescribed medication for bipolar disorder. "Tegretol, Seroquel, Lamictal, Topamax," she lists. "I am a mental diabetic."
"Lights would go on and off, and ... this toy machine," the actress and script doctor tells George Wayne in Vanity Fair. "I was a nut for a year, and in that year I took drugs again" after the death of R. Gregory Stevens, a close friend.
In an interview on NPR in 2005, Fisher expressed regret about being known so well solely for her role as Princess Leia and joked that she was afraid if she ever became senile she might begin to slip back into character.
Fisher has been forthcoming with her issues and publicly discussed her problems with drugs, her battles with bipolar disorder, and overcoming an addiction to prescription antidepressants, notably on ABC TV's 20/20.

carrie fischer has been an amazing script dr., working on many scripts, including the star wars series (in fact that was where she started, polishing up lucas' horrendous dialogue). if she needed to get attention, it certainly wouldnt have to be from an off-hand comment in an interview
