Robin's quick rehab exit
Oct 3, 2006, 13:56 GMT
Robin Williams left rehab before it was announced he had been admitted, it has been alleged.
The 'Mrs Doubtfire' star - who had been sober for 20 years before falling off the wagon this summer - was believed to have checked himself into the Hazelden Springbrook rehab clinic, in Oregon, for treatment in July.
However, it has now been alleged that Williams checked into the centre weeks before but only released an official statement after he had completed his treatment to avoid unwanted attention.
Williams' spokeswoman, Mara Buxbaum, has refused to comment on the claims, only saying: "That's why they call it Alcoholics ANONYMOUS!"
The comic actor recently revealed that Mel Gibson's arrest for drunk-driving was "a big wake-up call" for him.
During his arrest Gibson launched into an anti-Semitic tirade, in which he said: "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."
Williams admitted the incident showed him just how easy it is to fall from grace.
He said: "God does have a sense of humour that Mel was stopped by the only Jewish highway patrolman."
