Dane a 'McSteamy,' Dempsey a 'McDreamy'

Two McRegulars are heating up Grey's Anatomy. McDreamy, aka Patrick Dempsey, 40, plays the popular Dr. Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy, ABC’s hit medical soap, has been joined by actor Eric Dane, aka McSteamy. Us Weekly reports that Dempsey's path to playing the romantically conflicted brain surgeon was not easy. He was at one time considering becoming a professional home remodeler before his Grey’s audition, "but he’s made the word McDreamy part of the national lexicon."

“Patrick has always been an incredibly down-to-earth, kind person,” Debra Messing, his onetime Will & Grace costar, tells Us Weekly. “He has been around for a long time and has his head on his shoulders. I could not be more thrilled for him.”

Dempsey and his wife are expecting twin boys. “I’m really thrilled,” Patrick said on Ryan Seacrest’s L.A. radio show September 20th. “My wife looks great, we're excited, my daughter’s happy and we’re going to have a very big family very soon.”McDreamy has been joined by McSteamy on Grey's Anatomy, and Judging by the comments on the "Grey's Anatomy" writer's blog after Thursday's episode, fans of the show were rather pleased to see Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan again.Eric Dane, who made his first appearance on the show last season and closed Thursday's episode by walking out of a hotel bathroom wearing only a towel, is joining the cast full-time, ABC says. His appearance Thursday closed a scene in which Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd (Dempsey) was breaking up with his estranged wife, Addison (Kate Walsh).
