Nicole Richie has slammed CNN's reports and other rumors that  she has entered a rehabilitation facility to treat her alleged eating disorder.

CNN reported on Monday the rail thin star checked herself into rehab, but she was photographed on Tuesday walking about the Malibu Country Mart with boyfriend Brody Jenner.

Richie posted the following message on her official MySpace page saying, "Contrary to CNN's false accusations, I did not check myself into an eating disorder rehab.

"I don't know why or how this rumor started, but I am home, in LA, and very happy. I do not have an eating disorder, and I don't know how many times I have to say it.

"I've repeated myself so many times, I feel like a broken record. Whoever started this rumor is evil and mean, but it's not true. I am happy, and healthy, and living my life."

Oh PLEEZ!!! Isn't the expression 'IF IT LOOKS LIKE A DUCK, IF IT WALKS LIKE A DUCK than it MUST BE A DUCK!!' Aw come on already Nicole. I'm a 40 year old woman who has a niece with an eating disorder they call Anorexia. You know the disease that people over-exercise, don't eat and put on a show for others because they can't see it themselves. Well, this duck needs to start quackin!
Be a role model for others and show the world that YOU DO have an eating disorder, YOU ARE HUMAN and best yet....that you are looking for help. Stop being ignorant.

well, i can understand why Nicole doesn't want to open up and talk about her eating/body issues- because of reactions like yours (see post above)- i mean, would you want to talk freely to the world about your private struggles if they are constantlyu being critical of you?? yes, Nicole is a role model to many people, including easily influenced young girls, but its also an opportunity to use her as an example of someone struggling, and having to cope with the pressure of the lifestyle she is enveloped in. its an opportunity to her young girls- or whoever- find their own strengths and values. if you leave the raising and guiding of impresionable people to TV and tabloid, that doesn't say much about your parenting skills. do you also critique and judge people who have cancer or aother diseases who are sickly thin and try to hide it in order to fit into the outside world?? or what if NIcole had become overweight instead of underweight- would you still be critical of her as a neg and unhealthy influence? maybe you are a little more insecure and wrapped up in the superficialities of appearence then you care to admit? so you chose to focus on others' issues? i mean, when you look around- there are many super skinny/sickly people just walking down the street- its not just the movie stars.
and FYI- eating disoders are NOT just about weight and popularity- they are very deep and complicated diseases. i would have thought you'd know that since you have been a support to your niece's with her struggle....

Eating Disorder SuffererOct 1st, 2006 - 21:11:51

I am a 21yr old female, and have been suffering with Anorexia Nervosa for 5 years. I have been in and out of treatment, and I know the devastating effects an Eating Disorder has on one's physical, emotional and mental health. It also isolates the sufferer from friends and family. Yes, Heather (above) could have worded her comment more nicely. However, she did have some very valid points. ED sufferers deny their disease adamently, especially to themselves.
Based on the drastic and quick change in Nicole's appearance (remember 'Simple Life'?) I would guess that she is not healthy. Whether it be an eating disorder, drugs or other health complications. Whatever it may be, I hope she recieves treatment, and lives a full, healthy life.
If it is an eating disorder or drugs, I'm not surprised. She is constantly under scrutiny in the media, and the pressures for young women (men as well actually) can be overwhelming. Also, it must be very hard for anyone in Hollywood NOT to focus on the superficial.
Yes, anyone who is famous could be a role model to young girls- However it is up to their parents and other close, influential adults in their lives to give them the self-confidence and tools to know that what they see is not always reality. Also, real-life role models are much more powerful.

Let's be the change we wish to see in the world. Hollywood and the media are not real. 'Plastic makes perfect' haha.

It was wrong for CNN to falsely claim that Nicole Richie checked herself into an ED clinic. But she needs to admit that she has a problem whether it is an ED, drugs, or something else, she is abnormally thin. She has had a DRAMATIC weight loss since the Simple Life. In the beginning, it was a little bit of weight, and she looked fine. It has gotten to the point that she is continuing to lose weight- after she was already thin.

I am a recovered bulimic and recovering from anorexia. Even when I began therapy, I denied it. But now, I can admit that I have a problem. . . and want to get better.

I have a question for Nicole Richie:
If you can admit that you had a drug problem, why can't you admit that your weight is not healthy?

I am not trying to critisize Nicole Richie (I have an ED!), but I want her to get better. I pray that in her private life, she truly is seeking help. It's sad that Hollywood demands perfection, and Nicole was gorgeous no matter what. In fact, I liked her better before the weight loss.

She says that stress is causing her to lose weight. . . I think it's the way that she COPES with stress. But that's my opinion.

Hey,

I'm sorry that they post that information but don't you see that you need help. When I had my anorexia and I choose to get help because I was tired of playing this game with everyone. I will tell you that you have to get help or people won't get off your back about this eating disorder. Look at Mary Kate Olsen, yes they were on her case but once she got help then the media went some where else to talk about the Olsen twins. Please get help, it would be wise for you to do that and believe me, it's not that bad to ask for help. Thanks Nicole
