'Idol' and 'X Factor' Simon Cowell's mum run over by car

X Factor and American Idol judge Simon Cowell has returned to England to his mother's hospital bedside after she was run over by a car. Julie Cowell, 80, was injured when a vehicle reversed and hit her in Brighton, resulting in a suspected broken hip.
Cowell says, "When I heard I was worried to death. But she is as strong as an ox. I was obviously relieved she is fine."
Cowell visited mum Julie in a hospital near her home at the weekend, and has now flown back to the United States to begin filming a new series of the wildly popular American Idol.
The Sun is reporting that Julie has a suspected broken hip and now faces a hip replacement op.
Simon, 46, told The Sun: “When I heard, I was worried to death. But she is as strong as an ox and her attitude was a bit like, ‘What’s all the fuss about?’
“I was obviously relieved she is fine and already planning her 100th birthday party.”
An unnamed source said: “There’s no way Simon would have left his mum if she wasn’t on the mend. His brothers are visiting every day and she is sitting up in bed and being chirpy.”
