Sep 26, 2006, 16:33 GMT
'Sound of Music' star Julie Andrews is to be given a Life Achievement Award.
The screen legend - who is also known for her roles in 'Mary Poppins', '10' and 'On Golden Pond' - will be given the prestigious accolade at the 13th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAGs) next January.
SAG President Alan Rosenberg said in a statement: "Julie Andrews is a woman of great generosity, creativity, courage, elegance and wit.
"She embodies and transcends the memorable roles she has created. Julie has been a positive presence in my life and continues to inspire multiple generations."
He added: "I believe it is exceptionally significant to be recognized by people who do the same work you do."
Julie, 70, is no stranger to awards. She won an Oscar for her performance in the 1964 Disney classic 'Mary Poppins', and another in 1983 for her role in 'Victor/Victoria'.
The screen legend - who has been married to filmmaker Blake Edwards for 37 years - has won a new legion of fans in recent years after providing the voice for Queen Lillian in 'Shrek 2' and starring opposite Anne Hathaway in 'The Princess Diaries' and its sequel.
