Cameron Diaz's deadly weapon claim
Sep 22, 2006, 18:02 GMT
Cameron Diaz has accused a photographer of assaulting her with a deadly weapon, after he allegedly tried to run her over with his car.
The 'Charlie's Angels' actress filed a police report on Wednesday (20.09.06) claiming the paparazzi recklessly drove his vehicle at her and her boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
The incident occurred just after midnight on Wednesday when the couple were leaving a friend's house in Hollywood and they spotted a snapper hiding in the bushes.
Citing Cameron's report, Los Angeles police officer Marjan Mobasser said: "A photographer hiding in the bushes attempted to snap a photo of them.
"Ms. Diaz and Mr. Timberlake both then chased him a short distance.
"At this point the photographer got into his vehicle and drove toward Ms. Diaz and Mr. Timberlake, causing Ms. Diaz to jump out of the car's way."
Mobasser added: "Ms. Diaz felt the photographer was trying to hit her with his car so she filed for assault with a deadly weapon."
Cameron's attorney, Marcy Morris, has issued a statement regarding the incident, saying "The increasingly aggressive conduct of the paparazzi continues to me a matter of grave concern.
"There is currently a criminal investigation pending regarding the conduct of the photographers involved in the incident. Therefore, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time."
No arrests have been made and no suspects have yet been identified.
